Is anybody thinking about/definitley going from SGS3 > LG Nexus 4? I am thinking about it, but as I said the page before it seems like a sideways "Upgrade" so probbably wont.

Kopkiwi: How can this be bought using play store in nz? You have to use a VPN to buy devices in the play store, along with a mail forwarder with your google wallet credit card set to the billing address of your mail forwarder. That's how I got my Galaxy Nexus.

Disappointed. No LTE. Fine in NZ, but might have been useful for resale value in the future. Claimed they couldn't make a non carrier specific LTE version - well yes, for the USA perhaps. But they could have released an international LTE edition - the iphone 5 covers the majority of LTE networks with 3 models, and one of those is unnecessary. Still just 16gb - sigh. Same as last year, except last year i was disappointed by the camera and physical storage of the galaxy nexus. WTB HTC or Sony based Nexus device. edit: DC-HSPA+ is in there. Seems they mucked up the info. Actual specs: Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) 3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz) HSPA+ 42 Mbps Redeems it somewhat, still feeling quite disappointed though at the storage options. I guess they want people to buy a tablet for media.

After my experience with the LG Optimus Black (work phone) and their year+ long delay in getting ICS released to it, I have absolutely no desire to purchase an LG phone, ever.

I guess they want people to buy a tablet for media. iPhone 5 16GB US Price: $649 Nexus 4 16Gb US Price: $399 USD$250 Difference. And Google is a Cloud Company, so it makes sense that the Nexus range is going to encourage Cloud storage rather than Phone storage. The Down side is that we live in NZ and that we can't (easily) access the coolest Play services like Music and Movies etc.

Yeah i realize this. The reality is that we don't yet have the mobile networks and data caps to allow seamless cloud storage. I'd love to use play music, but theres not many places in the world where you can do it without destroying your data cap. I streamed from it for under an hour and used a significant chunk of my 500mb cap. Its simply not viable. Its lack of support for high efficiency codecs such as AAC don't help its case either. And it seems google has recognized this with the release of the 32gb Nexus 7 and dropping the 8gb model. And yet they still release 8 and 16gb nexus 4 devices. Just quite frustrated with the lack of storage, but ah well there is nothing i can really do about it if i want a nexus device.

Sorry I forgot to mention that all my colleagues were given the same phone, and another had the Optimus X2. All suffer from abysmal battery life. We all ironically have personal android phones or iphones and cannot explain those two LG's poor performance, has really left many with a bad taste of Android with some going back to iOS because of it. I'd love to be proven wrong though about the N4, so hopefully Google has put in enough testing time.

I think people forget about the whole Nexus thing. The manufacturer of the device just makes them, Google takes the reins with the software. Well, that's my understanding of how it works. This is why it would be good for a few manufacturers who have 'lost their way' if they opened up the Nexus program to some extent. I would have never even looked at an LG if it hadn't been for them doing the Nexus.

You're still missing the fact that Google looks after the software updates on the Nexus device NOT the manufacturer. This phone will be first for updates.
