Here is what your forgetting it's the actual manufacturer or the source of where you are buying from who decides the value of what the phone will be going at. If they list $200USD then youshop will have to abide as they have no right to adjust the value on it's net worth so really it's up to the company to decide. With that being said I think no customs/fees will haveto be paid agreed bigmal?

Customs aren't that stupid.  If they suspect a product has been declared below value to avoid gst and duty then they will charge as required and potentially fine or imprison (though I doubt you'd go to prison over a phone :-)

See page 14 of this thread http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=109104&page_no=14

and this statement from the customs website.

"There are heavy penalties for concealing dutiable goods from Customs and for making false declarations. When purchasing expensive items overseas, such as jewellery and electronic equipment, you may be offered a false receipt showing a lower purchase price. This is intended as a way to reduce Customs charges. Do not succumb to these temptations.

Concealment of dutiable goods and the presentation of false documentation are serious offences which may result in the seizure of the articles and substantial penalties. You may also be criminally prosecuted."

Each to their own but I wouldn't do it.

Actually I ordered an 8gb over the Play Store which is already in NZ and YouShop asked me to declare a value.. this is because if you order from the play store, Google does not add an invoice (got previous experience with a Nexus 7).

As for my experiences with YouShop, once it arrived on the 22nd, it was promptly sent after payment and is already in NZ since yesterday. Hopefully all goes well now, I'll keep you updated :)

Your also forgetting that it's the company itself that marks the value not me.
And also since they are authorized resellers why would youshop try to play with the value of the phone and mark it up? sure if it's from a friend I am ordering a phone from them then yeah youshop may try to adjust or do something but honestly if it's from a trusted retailer then I don't see why youshop would even bother.

The point is if you pay Negri $440USD and then Negri declare the value as $200 to avoid customs then that is fraud. You could get stung by customs. It even says this on the customs website

"you may be offered a false receipt showing a lower purchase price. This is intended as a way to reduce Customs charges. Do not succumb to these temptations. "

If customs ask you for an invoice to prove you only paid $200 to Negri then what do you do? Show them a fake invoice?

I'm all for getting this stuff in to NZ as cheap as possible and I think ordering direct from google and using youshop would be the cheapest option and could legitimately avoid customs duty. However ordering from Negri and using a knowingly false declaration probably isn't wise advice.

Hi can someone help me?
I requested a refund from Negri Electroncis as youshop isn't a viable option I am using shipitto now as they let you declare customs.
How much would I have to declare at most for it to avoid customs etc

Use this tool to find out your duty/GST: http://www.whatsmyduty.org.nz/

I wouldn't try to mess with customs, as you could end up paying more than if you just declared the correct amount.

Regarding customs tax avoidance, I would remind you to read the FUG.
Really it is not a big deal, everyone has to pay tax.

If anyone asks again or talk about avoiding tax or customs this thread is locked and the person banned instantly. The discussion is about the service not about evading tax.

If anybody is going to make an order today, would they be willing to add another 16GB to it and split the costs?
