Yeah I get the exact same results as you however I can set alarms with actions by specifiing the exact time eg. "Set my alarm for 8am. Walk the dog"  This works perfectly.

Yep, that works fine, will have to remember that. Have you tried face unlock? Recognition is amazingly fast, fractions of a second to unlock.
I have installed all my apps from my old phone, now a total of 40-odd. Out of 5.67GB of total space I still have 4.7 available so for me the 8gb model is fine. With Box giving 50Gb free cloud storage and 20,000 tracks on google music i dont think I will be running out of room any time soon.Oh, did I mention that display? This phone is just amazing, coming from my old Nexus One Laughing

Yeah I installed all my apps (only about 20 odd) and have heaps of space left.  The only reason I would use up 8GB is because I take photos and videos of my kids and even though they auto upload to Google+ I'm too lazy to delete them off my phone :-)  Other than that, yeah 8GB is ample as I use Google Music too.

Gotta love the display, totally drool worthy.

What I cant figure is the price, here is a phone that you can get into NZ for half the price of an iPhone. Is Google subsidizing this big time or is everyone else just very greedy?

Good is basically subsidising it, they probably get it build at cost/very close to cost.

Something I have been playing around with is NFC, very cool. Got some tags in from the US and now have a tag in the car that turns off WiFi, turns on BT for the Hands-Free, turns up the volume and starts the Car Home app.
Another one on my desk basically reverses these settings when i come back home.

Steve 113 bummer mate! Apparently some states inthe USA incur a tax that is charged up front. I don't know what states they are. I went through YouShop who post to Oregon (no tax) I am thinking you weren't with YouShop. Am I right?

And yes I believe purchasing this way is perfectly legal

I am with youshop yea and i do get charged tax because I am using shipito and they are based in california. Im basically using youshop to verify my credit card nothing in there terms and conditions say this is illegal or nothing about using the address without consent.

Yeah being glass on front and back the Nexus is very slippery.  I ordered one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A81H176/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

It's not full on protection but enough for me.  I don't like cumbersome cases.
