bigtom0208: i got an email reply from the manager, who is apparently out of the country. He told me all the already-repaired phones are with a friend of his. He gave me the guy's number - the friend apparently has all our phones and is going to return them as they come back "as a favor" to the ezigadget manager. He claims to never have worked at Ezigadget.

I basically told him that if I dont get my phone back in a couple of days I will call the police and report them for fraud/theft, but he acted real lazy and basically said he'd get to it when he can.

The person you talked to is called Joseph (aka Danial Kim) he is not a "friend" but in fact was the manger at the store for many years and sold me my 2 previous phones.

Check you inbox I have emailed some more info to you there

good luck mate, we are gona need it

This topic reminds me of my phone, which I am still out of pocket for, TechBrands Pacific!!
BTW, has anyone heard of any NEW news about TechBrands Pacific? The CO says it is still "registered". (Actually, I'll start a new topic for this..)

Similar story with us, but we still have our phone. AFter 10months of working great, our desire S suddenly died.
Went to the store to find it gone and later found the webite down, but with the note: "If you need to claim the warranty, please email us to [email protected] or [email protected]"

We emailed the company with the details but got told by Daniel to contact Joseph and he'd sort things out for us. Joseph was very uncommital and said he didn't work for them anymore, but was doing a favour and just taking details to forward on to Daniel - who already had all our details via the email we sent.
We got back to Daniel who suggested we contact HTC directly, try NZ first, but likely it'd be hong kong or taiwan HTC we'd have to deal with.

If they'd gone bust, I guess I'd have to see what HTC says (no response from NZ yet, but didn't expect much) but if they are saying/implying they'll deal with warrnty claims, but then get you to do all the leg work instead of them using their channels, its pretty poor.
Daniel is apparently out of the country - if he ever comes back, hopefully he'll help out his customers to either honour warranty claims or retrieve/return phones that people had with them when the shop closed.

So a few updates on my situation. I had originally sent the phone away to be repaired about 6 weeks ago, and 4 weeks ago told the Auckland repair place couldn't fix it so would be sent away to Hong Kong, which would take about a month. Fine, I said, and got a loan phone in the meantime.

Then the store shuts down, and I speak with Joseph two days ago, assured it will be sorted out. Joseph, by the way says he never worked at ezigadget, which seems to contradict what others on this forum have said they've been told.

Yesterday I'm told my phone still hasn't been sent away to Hong Kong yet. Joseph claims not to know anything about it. I tell him to wait another 1-2 months is unsatisfactory and I want to speak to Daniel Kim, but he won't give out his number (very suss). So I said I want a refund as under the Consumer Guarantees Act, faulty goods must be repaired within a reasonabe time.

Joseph gets off the phone, and says he will ask Daniel. 10 minutes later he calls back to say he will replace the phone with a new one, and it will arrive in 1-2 weeks.

To me, this is a satisfactory outcome if it happens. I'm going to get legal advice in the meantime.

I also have the landline number that Joseph Kam called me back on (showed up on my phone when he rang back)

I was also told that Daniel Kim is bankrupted and doesn't have to do any of this and we should be somehow thankful he is not just walking away from it all, however I called up the insolvency office and there is no record of a Daniel Kim, a Joseph Kam, or ezigadget going into bankruptcy/insolvency/liquidation. Maybe Daniel isn't his real first name...

You are correct he has closed shop but he is still contacting people and seems to be doing his best to honour his Warranty's. In no way fast but Still.

He has said to me that the Tech team he was using here have let him down so he has shipped my phone to South Korea to have it repaired. He has also said that if it can not be repaired by December he will buy me a new phone. So if either of those outcomes are true I will be happy.

Note however that this has taken 7 weeks so far.....

If you do want to make contact your best course is [email protected]

Man I'm not sure I would send anything else to them maybe just bite the bullet and pay for it and try and claim against them. I work at parallel imported we see this a lot, small companies come and go all the time. There is a nice cheap service centre we recommend, mobile pro at Hobson st Auckland contact him, he is pretty reasonable. I'm really sorry to hear the problems you guys are having.

I am extremely cautious about sending my phone anywhere with ezigadget, cause i may never see it again.

My phone cannot be repaired it needs to be replaced due to a world wide screen fault.

Well team!!

Yesterday I received a Fedex package with my Repaired HTC one X!!!

Motherboard seems to be fixed as the screen is now working fine.

Have noticed two small issues but have decided to live with them, they are that the LED under the back button is not working (the ones below the Home and Tab button are working) the other issue is that the phone is running 1.28.708.10 (4.0.3) and is not picking up any updates (at least over my data plan).

So hopefully others will hear from Ezigadget soon and have a similar result,

Cheers for the help team!!

So turns out the not updating issue is due to the fact the phone has been put as region free (CID: 111111) Am trying to get it back to either HTC_044 (Asia) or the NZ VODAP022 so that it can receive OTA updates.
