Oh man, 4.2 is great, although a little slower than 4.1.2,

The new rendering engine is fantastic, completely alleviates the pentile jaggies you would get with earlier versions of the OS.  Everything seems super smooth and sharp with no gross pentile edging.

I upgraded my Yakju 4.1.2 build to Takju 4.2 (keeping all user info and settings) using this tutorial.  If you previously moved from a non Yakju/Takju to one of those (unlocking the bootloader in the process) then its just some simple ADB commands and you're good to go.   Otherwise you will need to unlock bootloader which clears all user info so probably would be easier to just flash 4.1.2 takju.

You need to flash yakju or takju. You can find your build by going to Google maps, settings , about and your build will be under 'device' if its not yakju or takju you will be waiting months for every update...mine was a different version but flashed to yakju to get jelly bean then takju update as described to get 4.2

It means you have a long wait unless you flash yakju or takju. The yakjuxw is a slightly different build possibly ex Asia.

Just one word of warning about the 4.2 update: There's a bug in the People app that prevents you from assigning birthdays or anniversaries in December. The month is completely missing from the date picker.

If you don't use this feature then you're ok. You can probably get around it by editing your contacts via the web interface for whatever account the contact comes from (e.g. Google Contacts, Windows Live Contacts, Exchange, etc).

Interesting. I did encounter the same bug when I tried to update a person who's birthday is in December but without this posting I would never had known. Strange bug to be sure.

I'm on yakju as well, but still haven't received it... I've tried turning off WiFi, force stopping Google Services Framework, then turning WiFi back on and checking for System Updates, but nothing...

How'd you get it?
