I was looking for some feedback on cases Nexus 4 owners are using.

I'm picking up my Nexus 4 today from Noel Leeming but don't have a case for it. I've ordered this one on Ebay, but it will probably be at least 2-3 weeks before it arrives:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nillkin-Matte-Hard-Cover-Case-Screen-Protector-For-LG-Nexus-4-E960-Mako-/110983894605?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=410149777229&hash=item19d727d64d

I'm not sure what I'll do in the meantime - I don't think any retailer stores are selling anything. I might try one of the cases offered on Trade Me - or I might just wait and use my old phone until the case arrives.

Yep, that's the same case I bought - it's very nice and snaps on tight to the N4, it has a grippy rubber finish to it. You still have to be careful of course, and because of the way the screen glass tapers off - it's difficult for a case to give much protection there.

Do you just carry your Nexus 4 in your pocket? I've traditionally liked a belt pouch because I usually have my wallet in one front pocket and my keys in the other.

The Nexus 4 is much bigger than any other phone I've owned so there's no way it's going in my pocket. I've look on eBay and there are belt pouch options, but as I also like to have one of these snap-on cases to protect the phone itself this adds some bulk to the phone so I think it may struggle to fit into one of these Nexus 4 belt pouches.

I did have the idea of getting a Galaxy S3 belt pouch, as the S3 is 2-3mm larger in it's width and height. But it is 0.5mm thinner, so given I'll have additional thickness from the snap-on case I wouldn't want it to be an S3 case that has too snug a fit.

I had a look on Amazon and found the following cases that might do the job, and I they are going so cheap there is little to be lost trying them:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007VOM0R4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

They won't ship to NZ though so I'm having to use YouShop - I'm not sure what it'll end up costing me to get them to NZ, but the 2 cases themselves cost less than NZ$10 combined. It's going to be a long wait too, so I'm still looking.

Yep I carry it in my pocket, it doesn't feel that much bigger than my last phone so don't really notice it.

Just reporting back on the cases I've settled on for my Nexus 4.

I didn't really like the Nillkin case (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110994297988?var=410153731431&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649). It looks and feels great, but it doesn't fully wrap around the top and bottom of the phone so doesn't really protect from knocks directly on the top or bottom.

I actually preferred the simple gel case I got from TradeMe from trader fonethings (http://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/accessories/cases-covers/other/auction-549621321.htm). The finish is not as nice as the Nillkin but it's reasonably smart for a gel case and importantly it wraps right around the Nexus 4 giving complete protection.

For carrying the phone around I use the belt pouch on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321043283881?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

It's designed for the Galaxy S3 but is a perfect fit for the Nexus 4 in a case. When you place an order it doesn't give you the option to ship to NZ, but you can contact the seller at the time of placing the order to request a shipping price. Even with a AU$10 shipping cost it only cost around NZ$16 all up and arrived about a week after placing the order (and this was over the New Year period).

I just thought I'd offer that for anyone who may be looking for suitable cases for their Nexus 4.

Got the Nilkin hard case today.. can't say I'm overwhelmed but it's decent for now. I'll be keeping my eye out for better ones in the future. Or maybe a bumper if they're ever available here (1st or 3rd party)
