I'll try it out on my Galaxy Nexus since I'm a flashaholic.

There are certain things that irritate me with android so I've been looking forward to seeing how Ubuntu stacks up.

Might give it a while on my Nexus 4 to try it out. I wasn't too compelled by the introduction video demonstrating the UI but I'd still like to take a look first hand.

From what I've seen on the recent Endgadget preview of the tablet version, very little will actually work so it's not going to be useful much.

I can see myself installing and going hmmm pretty and then restoring my CM10.1 install.

I'll be watching this for the Galaxy S2 (XDA people interested in porting it) and possibly my Nexus 7, once we know what works and such. I'm not keen on gimping my devices even if I do want to use Ubuntu Touch very very much

Guide to install Ubuntu Phone OS on Nexus handsets via windows machine can be found here. I am going to pass this build as I will wait couple of week to see if there are other apps.

You can download flashable files as well. Doing this keeps your sd card and nandroid backups intact.

I installed it and played around with it for about 15mins. It's very promising but nowhere near suitable for daily use, not even for the bleeding edge types. Can't add contacts, UI is not hardware accelerated and after writing a text message the keyboard will not hide itself and sits on top of everything until you reboot.

I am very much looking forward to future builds, I can see this being an Android beater if Canonical don't screw it up.

If you have a Huawei G300 lying around, Daz has pulled together a build based off his work getting CM 10 and 10.1 working on the device.

It is a dev preview release and very little works, but hopefully as canonical starts to contribute upstream and get things working, it might become a viable rom for this phone.

Since Canonical have used Cyanogenmod 10.1 as a base for Ubuntu Touch then if your phone can run CM10.1, you can also run Ubuntu.

It sounds like they did this just for the preview so it would run on existing hardware with minimal effort and they would have access to things like ADB. But it still strikes me as just a little ironic given how much they have been calling Android inadequate among other things lately.

it just uses the android drivers and kernel to give a headstart over having to develop an all new kernel, display and driver system. Other than that it is a chroot environment over the kernel and drivers. It is big though. 700+mb compared to 300 mb odd for android roms.
