Might be the first Galaxy phone I don't end up owning. The S3 is big enough screen wise for me, 5.0 is Galaxy Note 1 territory.

I'd be tempted if they did something about the battery :/

Beast like that is going to be power hungry.

But then, these are un-official. Things can change.

I intend to be in the market for one of these - I have an SII and skipped a generation with the SIII.

Well it's 500mah more than the S3, and I get 2 days from my s3 fairly easily.

The S3 is as big as I would want, in fact I consider it to be slightly too big now. 5" is too big.

4-4.5" is the sweet spot. The HTC One looks more appealing.

What do you do with your phone? I get a solid day, but never more.

I run push email, leave WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth on and have SIP registered when it can. I hate the concept of having to turn services on and off.

Hi There!

I agree. S3 IS marginally too big. 4.3-4.5 is perfect.

The HTC One is 4.7 and has no expansion slot.

I run custom firmware, it's not as good with the latest releases, I am down to 1.5 days, but I am going to backrev. I have all stuff turned on incl push email and reasonable amount of calling.

Like Adam I can do a day, day and a half if I turn most power hungry things off (GPS/WiFi.)

In terms of whether it's too big... guess it's time I borrowed a Note to get a comparison. I'm still with my S2 and while I don't NEED to upgrade, I want a bigger screen so it can truly be my computer away from home :)

The S2 screen just... isn't big enough (and size matters!)

You get used to whatever size phone you have...I had an iPhone 5 now I've got a Note 2. The Note 2 looked enormous when I first got it but now it looks normal to me. The iPhone 5 and even the S3 now look too small!

I think for me it's more about whether I can comfortably hold it and use it. I have small hands and trying to hold and then span my fingers across so I can type might be difficult if it's a big phone.

... just had a play with a workmate's Note. Yup, the S4 will prob be too big :/

myopinion: You get used to whatever size phone you have...

I've had my S3 for 8 months now and I still maintain it's marginally too big. While I can *live* with the 4.8" S3 scree, the 4.7" HTC One screen is that tiny bit smaller and therefore more appealing - and there are no decent options below 4.7" these days.

I will not be buying a 5" phone.

The other gripe I have with the S3 screen is their use of a pentile display. It looks crap, even compared to a 2.5yr old iPhone 4 retina screen. The PPI is lower than the iPhone, and the use of Pentile means you have effectively 1/3 less pixels than stated anyway. I won't buy another Pentile screen.

Agreed on Size, but the display is awesome, I'd take the S3 screen over the IP4 every day.

I don't have any issue with the screen on the s3, and it is better than the iphones in terms of colour and blacks I find. It is pretty cutting edge technology. The advantage of pentile is that supposedly it offers a better life for the screen.
I find the s3 a tad too big to use in one hand, and I have quite big hands. It also feels a bit too big in my pocket. So I definitely wouldn't buy anything larger.
It will be interesting to see if they get rid of the physical home button, and the actual design of the handset.

It wasn't like your display dying before you replaced the phone was an issue anyway.

iPhone 4/4S display is 330 ppi but the S3 is only 306 ppi. Take into account Pentile and your luckly if you have an effective PPI rate much above 200. Comparing say a photo side by side on the S3 vs an iPhone, the iPhone (to me) is clearly a far superior screen. I've had others agree when the two are side by side. Each to their own, tho.

I find the colours of the S3 over saturated - like when you go into a TV store and they have cranked the contrast way up. There is also a very obviously flicker in the screen when viewed in bright sunlight.
