That marketing blurb is full of it.

A brilliant 4.5-inch HD display - the sharpest in its class - which goes edge-to-edge so you can enjoy movies, photos, video chats and more.
It has a huge bezel sides, top, and bottom which I find pretty ugly.

The newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor featuring a quad-core CPU for seamless multitasking and enjoying the web, videos and games, with all-day battery life.
The newest midrange processor. It's decent.

Stylish design with a comfortable curved back.
Disagree with the stylish part. It's better than most cheap phones, but it's not stylish IMHO.

I guess with the different colour variations you can get for the battery cover some might consider it stylish

freitasm: The release:

Introducing Moto G in New Zealand

People all around the world want to be a part of the mobile Internet so they can access the world’s information, share, and connect with the things that matter to them. But the smartphone industry has relegated hundreds of millions of smartphone buyers to second-class status, preventing them from experiencing the mobile Internet at its best.

Pricing and Availability
Moto G will be available at national retailers Harvey Norman and JB Hi-fi from 21st January 2014 for the exceptional price of $299RRP. It will also be available from 2degrees stores in early February.

Great news, but will they offer both models 8GB and 16GB

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat New Zealand as a Solution Architect for all things Linux, Virtual and of course Cloud. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

What Puzzles me is the news article refers to the 16G  model so is that going to be the $299 price
Quote: Moto G owners also get an extra 50GB of Google Drive storage free for two years to safely keep and share photos, documents and other files (that's on top of the standard 15GB). That’s a total of 65GB! With that much space. No one at my local H.N. new a thing about. I don't know if this has been posted before but Motorola do a nice coloured flip case.

Like others you are not reading carefully enough, that is in addition to the standard 15gb of Google Drive space and makes no reference to the internal storage.

For those that are interested here is a Teardown of the Moto G  but in German.

http://www.areamobile.de/b/2267-teardown-das-moto-g-und-die-speicher-frage-update#g.2267.2.3800

There is reference that the Memory is just a SD card, as you can see this in the Teardown.

The press release Frietism posted lists dual SIM.

  • Dual SIM support gives you the option to use the network that makes sense for who and where you’re calling and texting or combine your work and personal devices into one.
Just realised who was posting! guessing you are after technical details and not validation that there is dual SIM on board.

NZtechfreak: Man, awesome it's coming here. Wonder where the 'only WP is worth it at the low end' folks are gonna go crying to now.

They will be happy with saving $70 odd and getting a 520! Or they could spend another $50 at 2 degrees and get an ATIV s with SD card support and an HD screen scratch that, the ATIV S can't really compete it only offers an SD card, .3" bigger screen and slightly better camera. This is a lot of Android for the price though. Glad to have Motorola back with a vengeance.

Correct.  Was wondering if both SIMs support WCDMA  or  as seems to be usual in dual SIM fones the second one is GSM only??

I don't think $299 is low end for most people. $100 is low end to me, but definitely under $200 dollars.   $299 is firmly in the mid-range.

It looks like a great phone and I may get one myself, but for comparison I bought a Lumia 520 for $122, and a Huawei 300 for $60 in the boxing day sales.  The Huawei does the job as an entry level phone for most people, and the Moto G does a great job as a mid range phone.
