I get pauses all the time on bluetooth when out no matter which phone and either the inbuilt bluetooth in my fusion head decks or an external bluetooth reciever. Just the nature of 2.4ghz when in urban areas.

This is a problem i have not encountered on two of my other phones in exact same circumstance which leads me to believe it is something to do with the ultra, its something that is quirky but lesser of the evils of carting CD's or bad radio programming

Wade:
Oubadah: Also, when I play music off a local NAS on this phone it frequently stops playing momentarily and then resumes. The Moto G and a poverty spec HP tablet play the same files off the same NAS via the same apps without a hitch.

I stream downloaded google play over bluetooth in the car and have had this happen,

Just to be clear, mine wasn't a bluetooth issue. I haven't even tried bluetooth yet on this phone. I was just using wired headphones.

I have experienced that sort of bluetooth flakyness with other devices in the past though - it was with the above-mentioned HP tablet, and it was because I had inadvertently positioned the tablet and the bluetooth speaker with a large mass of aluminium between them.

Can someone confirm that this phone takes 64GB SDXC cards? It's SDHC, SDHC, SDHC all throughout the manual, and no mention of an actual capacity, but gsmarena says "up to 64GB" and someone in the comments says it's actually 128GB (which I remember reading somewhere else too).

I can't find a positive answer on the Vodafone site, manual or spec sheet.

If you format it elsewhere fat32 it should be fine in anything that takes SDHC cards. The protocol did not change, only the specs that mandate exfat support for cards over 32 gigs. Thats because of the file size limit on fat32.

Many places dont want to deal with the microsoft issues on exfat so just say 32 gig support so they dont have to include exfat in the device. They would have to specifically decide that they were not going to run the sd card based on capacity to not work in it.

I wasnt able to get a 64g working in my crap old 2degrees phone no matter what I tried, but then I had issues with a 32 as well.

Smart ultra has the proprietary licensed module required to support exFAT (com.quicinc.cne.CNEService), and will happily take exFAT formatted SDXC cards. I have a 64GB in exFAT in mine, taken directly out of a Note 4.

Those sample photos you have in the OP, what software did you use to take them? The default camera app that came with the phone?

Correct, it is significantly better optimised for the hardware than the Google camera app. Produces some truly excellent shots for a $300 phone.

I use both, agree the standard app is better but also does some quirky things in low light particularly, in the same environment Google camera doesn't exhibit same issues so must be software related I guess?

Oubadah: My sample has a screen defect. A  faint pixel-wide vertical stripe, almost central, running all the way up the screen. It's not visible on a black screen, nor is it visible on a white one. It's only visible on certain colours/shades (eg. this slide: http://i.imgur.com/ChdfVXY.jpg). On a smooth black-to-white gradient the defect comes in and out of view (ie. appears as a sort of dashed line), very odd.

This phone is for my mother, and if I don't point out the defect she'll never notice it so I think I'll resist the temptation to return it (unless it deteriorates). However, if I'd bought this unit for myself, I'd be returning it.

Returned it after all, and the replacement's screen is defect free.

This killed two birds with one stone, as now I can rule out a fluke faulty unit as the cause of the SMB FLAC playback issue I mentioned before. The new unit exhibits the exact same behavior. I started noticing a pattern; I play X FLAC track, and there is always a hitch at between 1-2 min. ES Explorer buffers in chunks, and the 1.30 mark is where the first chunk runs out in that particular file (if I start playing the track and then disable WiFi on this - or another - device, the song will stop altogether when it hits that point). My initial thought was that some kind of overzealous power saving feature preventing the phone's network controller from being ready to stream the next part of the file on time. However, the break still occurs when I have a file transferring in the background. Also, it can stream an entire WAV file without any interruptions. It doesn't make any sense.

Another problem I've noticed: Has anyone tried using VLC on this phone? I tried playing an MKV file (DD 5.1 soundtrack) and there was horrible audio distortion. Then I tried a FLAC file, and it had the same issue.

The screen sticky when unboxing the phone clearly states support upto 128GB, check out my unboxing video here for proof https://youtu.be/qZNFRpDXIF4?t=3m24s
