nofam:
DoggNZ: New ROM I'm using doesn't have the ICS Calendar. Does anyone have an apk?

You can actually download it from Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.calendar&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jb25jZW50cmljbGl2ZXJzLmNhbGVuZGFyIl0.

Cool

Haha, thanks. Had to uninstall the current one via Titanium backup first

Ok - long story short, I need to do a complete wipe / factory reset and reflash my phone.

Option 1: Stock ROM.  I don't have any great reason to move away from the stock ICS ROM (especially seeing as I have a 2000mAh battery coming).  However, I've been awfully unsuccessful in finding it!
If anyone can link to the current stock ICS that would be awesome!  (VNZ original).

Option 2: Fancy Schmancy 3rd party ROM.  Again, I dont have a compelling reason to change - but then again, I don't know what I don't know.
Stability, battery life, bluetooth & GPS/Nav are all very important to me.  Also the stock speech-to-text engine seems to work pretty nice.
Given that I'm going to reflash - is there something else I definitely should be trying?

Cheers!

Ok, just when I thought my phone was the best it's been with a custom ROM, stable, fast no FC's and good battery life, the battery indicator has got stuck at 85%...grrrrrrr

Edit: Pulled the battery out for a bit and now all good Laughing

So long as it's definitely a ROM for an I9100 phone (not the original I9000), you can flash whatever ROM you want.

Hi Guys,

So I picked up my Blue S3 and overall I'm quite liking it but I am new to andriod so wondring if anyone can solve a few bugbears I have currently.

1. Email client, I use exchange activesync for emails which is connected and working fine, however the way I manage my mail is that I have my inbox then under my inbox I have a people folder, inside that people flder i have named folders (Darrin, Luke, Mark etc) and i have exhange email rules that put emails from said people straight into those folders. The Issue I have is that there is no way to know I have aan email unless I go into each folder to check manually, the numbers on th subfolders seem to be a count of the total emails in the folder not the unread emails in the folders which is weird? Also the main screen icon doesnt update to say there is a new email unless it goes into the actual inbox... :(

2. I for the life of me cannot get emails to notify but make no sound or vibration. I have "Email Notification" ticked and have "Ringtone" set to Silent in the email settings, so it makes no noise but it still vibrates which is annoying and still wakes me up if i get emails in the middle of the night :( My friens S2 has a 3rd option under "ringtone" that says "Vibrate setting" but my telecome S3 seems to not have this option.

Thanks
Larno

For starters you might want to put this post into the S3 thread, this is the S2 thread.

Hey Larno,

Unless your friendly local forum moderator does it for you, you may want to move your post to the Galaxy S3 Owners thread :)

Thanks d3x3r!  After working out that I didn't actually have a samMobile account, i DL'd the ROM, and will install it tonight after I pick up my shiny new 2000 mah battery.

Cheers.

Are you trying to install the ROM you downloaded from Sammobile?

If so, you can't do this via CWM - you need to use Odin to push the ROM to your device.  CWM-compatible ROMs are essentially just what you downloaded, but have a script added that tells CWM what to do.

There's heaps of tutorials on how to use Odin - let us know if you're not sure.

Sorry, forgot to mention, you can buy Mobile Odin from the Play Store, which makes things much easier and safer (less chance of a brick if something should interfere with your USB connection).
