If it's a .zip file, containing a .tar, yes unzip it.  If it's a .tar, then you should be able to flash it directly.

adamvnz:
joker97: i too am now quite frustrated with seemingly horrendous battery drain with any usage - surely it can't drop by 20% in 20 mins? (this am!)

can anyone now remember what it was like (usage battery drain) with say fluxmod 2.3.6? even playing mp3 with screen off can drain 10-15% per hour with ICS 4.0.3 - it's not just the screen, but screen plus cpu +/- gpu is i think unacceptable ...

and no i'm not forking out more money on SGS3 that has a larger battery and smaller power consumption, or a bigger battery for that matter

Have you used an app called "wheres my Droid power"?
I was using an app to monitor my data usage called onavo and found out that onavo was my biggest sucker of batter power.
What I'm saying is that you might have an innocent looking app sitting there sucking the life it off your bat.
I'm on wanam 12 and down to 90% after 2h 20min using mostly telecoms network and a little wifi. I am a heavy user too. Sorry can't comment on using music yet on wanam 12

what kernel are you on?

I am on wanam 12 and abyss 3.2 (ondemand, cfg)

battery usage is near zero while sleeping and freefall when on screen ...

i will try wheres my droid power when i recharge later

Just wanting to find out if this would work on our g2 phone http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/iRigMicCast/
I am not sure if the pins are the same on the iphone as on ours. I am also thinking that this will help when videoing live bands that I mix sound for, as the inbuilt mic sux.

It should work fine; the pins are the same.

Has anyone compared siyah 3.3.2 vs abyss 1.2 kernel? In terms of battery life which one is better? I can't make up my mind

Very close call - I think Siyah is slightly crisper to use, but Abyss is possibly slightly ahead battery-wise, if set up correctly.

Does siyah have random battery drain while sleeping?

I like siyah because you can apply ex tweaks

No, typically, random battery drain is related to apps causing wakelocks.  All the latest GB kernels for the SGSII are pretty refined.

i can tell you it doesn't have to be wakelock ...

when i installed the beats audio hack it drained like crazy while sleeping ...

on abyss it drains 1% every 4 hrs on wifi sleep

on siyah 3.3.2 sometimes it drops 4% in one hour on wifi sleep ... i can't explain it

no wakelocks

Ok, so Wannamlite 12.0 and Siyah 3.3.2 seems pretty solid. What modem are people using for 2 Degrees? Phone is being given to GF so this is how it's going to stay indefinately Smile

That wifi issue seems to be an ICS thing - almost like it prevents your phone from deep-sleeping.  I did read on XDA that it's to do with the device being spammed with IPv6 packets from other devices on the network, but I haven't been able to prove this.

Certainly wasn't an issue with Gingerbread though.
