Much better sum up of events there :) And that damn lockup is incredibly annoying, but trying to find a solution on that thread is near impossible. It is good to know that it hasn't been solved as of yet.

I have been on Bruce's JB for a couple of weeks now.  Been flashing pretty much each update as soon as released.
I haven't noticed any lockups for well over a week now.  I'm using Badass governer and have been getting quite good battery life.

If you do have a lockup, you can reboot via the "3 finger salute" instead of a battery pull (hold down vol up, vol down, and power buttons for a few seconds).

Also, if you have lockups, have you upped the minimum clock speed in Performance settings to 384MHz?  And Disabled HW Overlays?

Alarm was silent this morning but vibrated.  This was with the 20120827 build.  Simple fix by turning alarm vol all the way down then up again while in the alarm settings screen.

HW overlays is on and minimum is 384mhz so I don't know what the problem is. May be the kernel?

edit: I just flashed the tamcore kernel. See how that goes. Will report back if it doesn't crash.

Nearly a full day and no crashes! Usually 1-lots haha. Must be the kernel or something to do with it? Can anyone care to explain why this may have fixed the problem please?

Nope, but then again, I don't suffer from many of the glitches I see others suffering. I use Bruce's kernel which has performed well thus far. I run my CPU at 192MHz min and 1566MHz max with no BSODs or random boots. I flashed 31/8 over 27/8 (which had been awesomely stable for me anyway) without wiping and it's still stable.

Don't personally care that the FFC isn't working yet since I never use the thing, but it will be good to know that everything works when they've finally sorted it even if only for bragging rights. :-)

Got the FM radio working with SpiritFM from the Play Store as that is important to me.

Camera is still not working in 1080 video but everything else about it is good. I'm using MX for playback as it was recommended and so far no glitches apparent there.

Battery use is pretty much identical to my ICS experience so as a beta, this ROM is super stable for me. Certainly perfectly adequate as a DD. The only area where I feel there's still a fair amount of room for improvement is with the scrolling behaviour, which tends to be more abrupt in its deceleration and coasting performance. ICS is certainly better in that sense, in my experience.

All in all though, great ROM and surely worth the effort to flash it.

Cheers,
R2

I don't know this is a problem with the tamcore kernel or what, but after I flashed it, texting seems to be lagging slightly which is down right annoying. I am the kind to rip through a text with my fingers moving at a million miles an hour so it is quite frustrating. Could it be a case of the max MHz being set at 1188? I wouldn't have thought texting needed much grunt.

I would doubt that it's to do with CPU speed. More likely that some activity is swamping the cpu. Install Power Tutor and check out what's monopolizing the CPU - (it could be another app that's causing the lag) - or clearing the cache and data for the SMS app. Worth a try.

Sometimes, you can sort out weird glitches by just re-flashing over the top of the ROM that's behaving badly.

Two quick questions...

1. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I had no sound when playing video or games, but sound worked fine on the music player and other aspects of the phone (ringtones, notifications, etc.). I suspected this might have happened as a result of the Telecom OTA ICS update, but wasn't sure. Anyhoo... although I've turned the phone off and on several times in the last month, today I changed the battery for the first time in ages. When I switched the phone back on a message came up saying "Android is updating" and when the phone finally came fully on, I tried a video and - voila, sound!

Why would this be? Is there some kind of "reset" that actually requires the battery to be taken out, that doesn't happen when you "Shut phone down" or "Close all apps and restart phone"?

2. I have created a small number of folders on my home screen for related apps, rather than each app having it's own icon directly on the screen. This morning I tried to create a folder to house a handful of widgets, as opposed to apps, and it didn't work. Is there a way to create "widget folders" or is this an app-only fiunction?

[edit - added question 2]

Hi all.
Have been focused on a couple of other things for a couple of weeks, but also have nto noticed any emails for a while, and was wondering how the Jellybean port is going these days.

Jellybean is going very well. There has been a fair bit of activity with Bruce's ROM over at XDA.

The freezes have been sorted which is great and the ROM has been incrementally improving by the week. No sign of the front facing camera and on some builds the video has been tearing on youtube. There are a couple of development kernals in the mix which hopefully will sort it the remaining issues. I am using this as my daily ROM and find it very stable.

Cheers, matt.

snonoz: PROBLEM!

Partners HTC Sensation... won't start up. Powers up ok but stays on the attached screen - no Android starting up... When booting up (after battery and SIM out) it says Android Is Upgrading - Optimizing Applications 1-28... then says Starting Applications - then nothing but the attached pic.

Mine's been a bit weird lately, too. Whenever I restart the phone I get the Android is upgrading... Optimizing application nn of 78 message, then Starting applications..., then it goes to my lock screen. When I unlock the phone I get a blank home screen (just the wallpaper image, with no clock, app icons, nothing) and no matter how long I wait, it stays like that. But I found that by swiping left or right to view another home screen, then swiping back, it's OK - everything then looks and behaves as it should. Slightly annoying, but at least the "fix" is quick and simple.

When I was trouble shooting mine (replaced SIM sorted call and SMS issues but still have other phone problems), the Telecom chick said this was normal. My wife told her it was weird since her S2 didn't do it. But apparently some phones with ICS do this. Go figure. I've stopped worrying about it now but that still doesn't explain or help with you other issues.

I'm hoping this JB rom gets really sorted so I can delve into this rooting business. I'm a bit soft and don't wanna do it unless I know things are really cool since I had issue with old Galaxy 5 a few years back.

I've tried searching but cant find any information on an embarrassing problem I have with my Sensation!! For some reason, I can't find my phone number when I go into Settings-About Phone-Phone identity: it simply shows "Unknown"! And I can't find where I can programme my number into the phone.

What am I missing? If it helps, my phone number was ported over from 021.
