Finch: Sweet. Got Jellybean pushed to me last night/early this morning (1:30am ish). It said "Remaining Updates: 0" Does that mean the SGS3 wont be getting anymore software updates in the future? :O

That basically means now more updates left for now

Might I ask.. where did you get your phone from..?

Ok thanks. Won it off the radio, its unlocked.

You got the update earlier than any of the 3 telcos have finished testing so looks like it was parallel imported.. Good for you mate.. EnjoyCool

Sounds like your S3 is the Asian variant. It could be from Singapore. They only just the update pushed last night according to Sammobile.

Anyway to tell where my device is from? By the build number or something?

Yes the build in your About section would tell where it is from if you haven't played around with other firmwares lol.

Hi all,

Perhaps everyone already knows this or doesn't care, but in case it helps someone I thought I'd let you all know that cheapo (but seemingly large and fairly legit) Aussie electronics supplier Kogan has just started shipping to NZ.

http://www.kogan.com/au/

Amongst their wares is a fairly tasty deal on a the S3, which I've recently ordered from them:-

http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-s3-16gb-red/

$AU 479 seems a pretty sharp price...?

These are shipped (as I think all/most of Kogan's products are) direct to NZ from the Hong Kong warehouse. They are a little vague on how warrantee cover would work, but at worst it'd be return to HK and wait a while. Not so bad for a small item I guess; worth it with a large enough discount.

Cheers,

Tony

I have a couple mates that just picked that up from them, apparently good service and fast delivery.

Works out to be $600NZ then you may have to add on customs fees and gst. You can probably get them cheaper in NZ, as I have seen new ones as low as $688

Wouldn't be covered by the CGA if you purchased it from overseas, and the cost to send back to HK for warranty issues would be high.

Neat trick - how did you get to edit your post without having it show up as having been edited? the last bit that went "everyone is out against you" has gone now. It wasn't true of course, I'm not paranoid, just lazy. I'm quite capable of  upgrading my phone's OS myself, I just couldn't be bothered, thinking Voda might get around to it one day. You personally cheered me up no end, by quite literally making me laugh out loud with your last reply in that Voda forum thread - the irony of VodaNz, ultra-sluggish in providing JB to its customers, saying that frontline staff weren't kept informed because it changed "to quick" was genuinely hilarious and left me in a very good mood. I'm not sure if the risibility was intentional or not, but it certainly lifted my spirits, thanks.

Samsung provides us with the handset update for testing, Testing / approval takes about 1 week if we find no issues, Then Samsung New Zealand go back to Samsung Korea and request the update to be loaded into Kies / OTA so customers can update their handsets,

example Samsung S2 from the time Vodafone NZ approved ICS for the S2 it took many weeks for Samsung Korea to get the update into Kies / OTA, Check out the thread on the Vodafone NZ forum,

Samsung Korea are the ones that push out the update after it's approved and I bet they are very busy

John

Vodafone have been testing for a while now.... any news? Faults?
Why does Vodafone need a custom build of the software anyway? We are such a small country.. why wouldn't you go with a general version.. a generic csc etc. If your network is up to scratch I don't understand why you would need to customize the software.

I bought one from EBay but it turns out to be grey instead of blue one.
This is an original back cover by the way.

And the weird thing is my original pebble blue cover is different colour from my missus pebble blue back cover. Both phone bought from Noel Leeming.

Really? $35 for 1?

@Motorwayne,

Do you want to buy one? I'm ordering a few from Ebay. Let me know if you're interested.
