Doesn't root stop the updates? As in the case of my wife's phone.

Is there any point to having Kies installed? It updated itseld tonight and STILL tells me my S3 is not supported by Kies 2.0, so I was wondering if there was any useful purpose it served other than updating my phone's firmware, if that ever happens.

4.1.1 is old news. We need 4.2.1 once Google released fixes.
Though, 4.1.2 official should be good.

Stock standard VF setup and not showing any firmware update in Kies either
No rooting or anything else
apart from what ever else may be causing this Kies really is a flakey and troublesome software

Hi guys,

Not sure if this has been discussed already, I tried searching the forum for similar issue but nothing is coming up:

The caller ID on my S3 (recently flashed to stock firmware JB ZSDLK2 rooted with Siyah kernel 1.7) does not recognise the contact if the number is saved in international format, i.e. +64xxxxxxxx. It will only recognise the contact if the number is in area code + number e.g. 09 xxx xxxx.

Is anyone else having the same issue and how do I resolve this? Is this a JB related issue?

It is quite annoying, and I have always saved my contact numbers in the international format in Gmail and never had this issue before and don't want to have to go through all my contacts to change the format.

Anyone know how/when we will get jellybean update for unlocked samsung s3's? The one I have got was purchased from DSE, so is not a parallel imported, nor is it tied to any network, although I am using it on vodafones network. SO I pressume the update is supposed to come directly from samsung, but there are no updates available  for it. Updates are so much easier to understand with apple products.

I didn't realise they were parallel imports as they weren't advertised as such. They were on;y advertised as 'unlocked' I thought there were laws that required them to advertise if that goods are parallel imported or not, as you don't get the same consumer protection as the local supplier in NZ may not support them, eg  if the retailer ever went under
