The new widget really drains the battery for me. I've always had it on and the battery was OK until I added the new widget yesterday.

Just added the new widget this morning, I'll see how it goes.

The widget is really quite cool. I had an appointment in Puke yesterday at 5:15 and Google Now reminded me when I had to leave East Tamaki, due to the traffic congestion. Got there bang on time :)

Yeah its scary accurate. It knows that most Fridays I heard over to Martinborough and pops up the time it will take including delays. Typically I arrive within a minute or so of what it says over a 75 minute trip.

Update the Google search app and a new Google Now widget will be available. I think it needs 4.1 or later to work?

Sorry to be dense, but isn't this all automatic? Doesn't it notify me if an upgrade is available like everything else?

Yes if you have auto update turned on. However sometimes I find auto updates take a while to come through and a restart kicks them into life.

As above. Check under your widgets to see if you have a couple of Google Now widgets available. If so you are good to go. Then if you like the effects of the black or transparent look, sideload one of the .apk links I put up.

Ok thanks. For some reason the widget wants an entire screen to itself! Is that normal?

Touch and hold it then you will have the option of resizing it.

Hmm something weird is going on. The widget is added and immediately says "get google now" but I can't click on it or anything, might be something to do with my shell is which shell3d by spb.

Google now will use more battery life as its on most of the time updating so has to use battery, if you have location on it will use even more.

Purely up to user but it used more battery life than what I wanted from an app I didn't really use.

Is there anyone here that knows when Telecom is going to release their 4.1.2 ROM ???
VF users have received theirs about a week ago !

Or does anyone have contact with someone at Telecom who can answer the question?

There are reps from all telcos in geekzone, hopefully they are reading these posts as they have replied to earlier posts in this thread..

2Degrees have given a timeline of 2weeks from now

Thread has gone very quiet Sealed and still no news from any Telecom reps Cry on the release of 4.1.2.

Or 2D :( Normally it's one after the other, but it's been a while since Vodafone released it now.

Phone is just so laggy and slow, I'm not sure If i can take it in and get it replaced? (And blame the chip)

My phone was also very laggy running 4.1.1 I was begining to think sds. Restarting it speed things up for a few hours lol.
Since the vf 4.1.2 update the lag is gone.. no probs...a massive improvement. I would wait for your update and see if that helps
