Well I don't think you are being completely fair. They aren't saying they don't want to fix the problem, but without seeing the issue how will they know what to replace, repair or fix? Intermittent issues are as much a struggle for the company repairing them as the customer, they require a lot of time, and expense to resolve. If they "guess" and you get it back and it's still faulty, you are likely to be mad as hell they didn't fix it "properly" and may well post in some forum about how crappy the service is from xxx repairer.

Indeed but Im not disputing the repairer wants to sort the problem, I'm sure they do. My issue is the customer has a right after purchase for the goods to be either serviced so the fault is no longer or the item replaced.

They can keep and use the phone for a resonable period to observe the issues but returning it to the customer with 'no fault found' is not acceptable.

I am currently in the same boat with it just rebooting and freezing randomly (Last night and early this morning), I have done a factory reset and put the latest 2Degrees Firmware on it and will see how it goes from here to if I will take it in or not.

IMW: Does anyone have an idea on when Telecom is going to release 4.1.2.?????
Is there no one from Telecom watching this thread ?

Unfortunately Telecom have dropped the ball big time in the release of 4.1.2.

They appear, to me, based on a quick random run through of the providers on SamFirmware, to be the only telco left in the world that has not yet released 4.1.2.

Given all the SDS issues, which are supposedly fixed in 4.1.2, it is inconceivable that Telecom have left their customers hanging out to dry.

The Yahoo issue shouldn't be an excuse.

Shame.

I kinda thought they could streamline the update process a bit after a few releases but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe once Samsung releases 4.2 we might see it (upholding the one release back idea :P).

But yeah I do agree, between 4.1.2 and the Portico delay on the Lumia 920s, I'm pretty jaded by the Android/WP8 upgrade processes.

It's the darndest thing!

I must have spent $100 on S3 cases including a Samsung flip, aluminium, leather and one with a wee stand.

I keep going back to a $1.95 black TPU case I got off Trade Me.

I think it must be the knurling on the edge for grip that I like and rather than being a hassle, the extra bulk is a bonus.

Just wondering if any has advise, why is it a pain to use 3rd party lock screen apps? I mean when you click home button it unlocks phone! I don't recall having this problem with my previous Galaxy S phone

Elpie: I got the 2Degrees update as soon as it was released. A couple of days later I am still getting random reboots, phone locking up in the middle of calls, jerkiness on swipe, lags... and am ready to throw this piece of rubbish at a wall.

4.1.2 might have brought improvements but since I have a largely-unusuable phone I can't really tell. Today, it took 4 minutes to turn on. I expect a sudden death anytime now :-(

In that case I would return it to place of purchase with proof of purchase and get it sent away to the Samsung service agent

They won't consider it at this stage. I'm just hoping it stays somewhat usable for the next few weeks. Shame Vodafone isn't offering a trade-in deal for the dual-SIM version ;)

Try a factory reset WITHOUT restoring the apps/data automatically. Re-install just the apps after it boots up. A bit more work but it will most likely rid your phone of lag.

I have tried swipe and pin as well but result is same. Note though if i use stock lock screen everything works as expected . if am not mistaken it should be same for you too. Try for example holo locker if you hit home button it unlocks phone but everything works as expected if you hit power button!

I use custom Rom and Jkay lockscreen so never had anything like that even using any other custom mods.

Tried holo locker and works as I assume it should, I push home button it brings up lock screen. I have swipe enabled.

I see the telecom 4.1.2 is now on SamFirmware, has anyone received an OTA update ?

It does say January, we are nearly in March, so wonder how long Telecom have been hanging onto this before releasing it.  With a January date it makes it look like they have released the update with the other telcos, not 4-6 weeks after them.

Nonetheless, pretty poor effort telecom. Lift your game.
