may i ask what firmware you are on?

also - did it wipe the device to apply this root? (ie, reset to factory ) or did it work with all your apps and data intact? thanks :)

QI is QI, as long as the base and the coil unit on the phone are QI-compatible, then you'll be fine. Some bases\receivers use single coils, some use multiple, these can make orientation/position more or less of a factor.

ANother fun thing I just discovered. USB 3 is not enabled on the Note 3 by default. In order to enable the USB 3 part of the interface, you have to enable it every time you plug it in via the USB Notification dropdown. I've also discovered that it seems to crap out fairly frequently and needs a reboot to get it to realise that you're using a USB 3 cable again (and this is using the Samsung-provided cable in the box).

anyone interested to buy my iBolt xProDock i got for the note 3 from amazon a few weeks ago?

it has audio out via 3.5 mm cable to plug into stereo (via the usb port on the note3 not headphone jack), activates car dock mode etc.

as new condition 50$ incl shipping,

If you have a proclip car mount you can buy the optional AMPS adapater plate for it

this is it here. http://www.amazon.com/iBOLT-xProDock-Samsung-aux-out-car-speakers/dp/B00AOCSFYC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383707797&sr=8-1&keywords=ibolt+xprodock

Hi, I am contemplating buying a Note 3 I like the screen and the battery life. Changing from a iPhone of many years, was also contemplating the HTC One or the Nexus 5

Does anyone have any info on the pricing before Christmas last year, Warehouse stationery currently have this on special at 1099 plus a free Samsung case. Was the Note 2 discounted deeper in the run up to Christmas as the Nexus 4 was?

Got a new job so I need a new phone, just not sure about the timing.

I am also off to Oz soon, may run the gauntlet of buying in Oz and paying the GST, although the prices don't look too dissimilar from what I can ascertain.

if youre coming from an iphone and have no real need for the spen features, id have thought the nexus 5 would be a better choice. clean, fast, OIS camera, excellent screen, great build, and 1/3 the price. cant go wrong?

Sorry, on what planet is the Nexus 5 a third the price of the Note 3?

OIS camera or not it doesn't look like it bests the Note 3 for imaging, I probably wouldn't put that in the pros column Vs the Note 3.

Nexus 5 definitely worth thinking about also, don't get me wrong, but going around sowing flagrant misinformation about their respective pricing isn't helping anyone.

sorry, my bad. i thought the nexus 5 was 349US off contract, so i figured about 450nzd compared to 1100 RRP for note 3, on planet earth :)

apologies for misinformation.

$699 or $690 for the nexus 5 in NZ when it comes out from 2deg

Might be a good idea to compare local prices not US local prices to NZ. If we go with that comparison than the note 3is under $700 off contract in US which is still not 1/3rd.

right. i wasnt considering US Notes because to my understanding they were US specific variants for AT&T and the like, not the 9005 international version found here. unless youre saying the 9005 LTE model is 700 off contract in US, in which case, i bow out.

the intent of the post was to highlight that, for a user coming off the iphone ecosystem, moving into Samsung's generally bloated and convoluted world wouldnt be the first thing id recommend, especially if that user might not have any need or use for the digitizer features of the Note, plus the fact that the comparisons ive seen of the 5's OIS photos and video compared to an S4 were generally superior in daylight.

add this to the benefits of the clean/pure interface of stock android, guaranteed support from google for updates, and reasonably good build quality, plus the obvious price differential, made it in my eyes a model to consider.

i apologise for the incorrect price comparison.
