this is an interesting predicament. I have two views,
the first is that if he did indeed invent it, and patent it then pursue this at all costs.
the second is that, if that passes, how will this affect the rest of the mobile industry? everything uses sms these days.
any further information would be appreciated, all the info I can find doesn't say much, except for filling out the articles with irrelevant or semi-relevant information.

He is my ex neighbour. I lived next door to him for about 4 years and we had many a conversation around technology. He is a very smart man. 6 years ago he had the global rights for streaming BBC content over IP networks and we were playing with codecs for iPaq over cellular. It was great - very cool stuff back then. Good luck to him.
