AKU2 - not a crash, but definate lockup.

, posted: 22-Jun-2006 17:47

ok, after some further investigation I dont think it was a complete crash,

initial symptoms:

open file explorer->browse to storage card,
Open directory with a large number of files in it, including a sub-directory with a large number of sub folders and files.

it then locked the unit up, I left it for about 30 minutes and still no response from the unit,

wouldnt turn on or off, or respond to being cradled, so I assumed it had crashed.

i then checked every other directory, no crash.
I removed the sub-directory.
then removed all the files, a file at a time checking for a lock up or crash, nothing went wrong, until I got right towards the end,

then I had a lockup for about 35 seconds.

now its fine.

So I swap it to my other unit I am running with AKU2, try the same thing, it too takes about 35 seconds then starts responding, and the lock up no longer occurs even when removing the device.

however, that was a once off occurrence, and is now no longer occurring.
I never encounted this behaviour prior to the update, Im in the process of rebuilding the sub dirs, to see if I can get it to lock up completely.

I wont go on about this anymore in blog entries, until / unless I can work out the cause completely however I would be keen to hear from anyone else who has seen similar occurring.

I'm a professional Geek, and also in my own time, I am likely to write about all manner of things on this blog.
Of late I haven't updated this place much, but I need to do some revamping and dust off the cobwebs a bit. so thats what I'll do. going to aim for a minimum of three times a week updated here to begin, then perhaps head towards every day!

Who knows!

but for now I hope you enjoy what you read, and that I aid the constant novelty and stimulus to your brain that the internet provides us all, in a way nothing else can!

I am likely to comment on everything here, but my current topics of choice are

*general and specific ramblings
*Dvorak Keyboard
