Internet can be a dangerous place....

UPDATE*************** This is what was on their website as of 17/11/06 @ 8:00

Statement

If you are emailing us or visiting our website because of the recent (inappropriate) email communication we had with a customer we would like to advise that we regret the exchange. We have apologised to the customer concerned and put processes in place to ensure it won't happen again.

With a long history in Auckland of supporting events with our marquee hire, we know that planning a wedding is one of the most stressful times in a person's life and we do what we can to make it easy. We most certainly do not condone rudeness on the part of any of our staff or endorse the views in this particular response.

You may be aware that the email that was forwarded by our customer has now reached some thousands of people. We do not believe it is fairly representative of the service that we usually provide, and perhaps more importantly it is generating many calls to the former customer which is stressful for him.

We would rather not comment any further but move on having learned from this situation. Again, we pass our apologies on to this customer.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. Your wedding sounded cheap, nasty and tacky anyway, so we only ever considered you time wasters.
Our marquees are for upper class clients which unfortunately you are not. Why don't you stay within your class level and buy something from payless plastics instead.
Kindest Regards
Katrina

Hi Klaus   Paula and I went and viewed your marquee setup at Devonport the other weekend and unfortunately we did not like it.So this is just to let you know we will not require your services on 7 April 2007. Thanks for your assistance and we are sorry that it turned out this way although we are glad we looked at the marquee prior to booking as that would have been a huge disappointment.  Regards  Steve Hausman

Was this for real? Sure is not someone trying to have a go at this company?

That's just NASTY! Oh well, I would imagine they will be a fragment of history in a year,, the glossy tack-website which does not work and all.

It is rather funny and it would be funny if you can see all the email trials - i've edited it so it only contains the original email - I would be more than happy to forward the email to anyone - I am just not comfortable doing it here as it is rather long and contains few hundred emails

It's not hard to imagine this happening if 'Katrina' were a disgruntled employee who was not planning on sticking around.

Still, I'm not sure that they have done themselves any favours by putting that statement on their web site. What they have done is confirmed that this correspondence actually took place, when it might have been better to just leave everyone to assume that the whole thing was fabricated.

"and perhaps more importantly it is generating many calls to the former customer which is stressful for him."

I guess it shows that forwarding emails on whatever reason (in this case to obviously show the bad service by a company) can also have unintended risks as well for the sender.

It only takes a few seconds of thinking before you click Send but unfortunately most (or maybe even all) of us would have failed to this at least once in our lifetime!

Apparently Katrina being fired won't really make much of a change for her lifestyle....

Does this mean that they are partners and/or husband and wife?

You think it ends with the marquee. Well no...not exactly...

Roanne and I went to pick up my dry cleaning from REGAL DRYCLEANERS in Newmarket which was "recommended by NZ's leading fashion designers" and they were apparently voted "Best drycleaners in Auckland 2002" by Style and Metro Magazines.

Not only was my dress not dry cleaned, the cost was much more than what they had initially said it would be, I was asked to pay for a hemming that they promised would be free. They changed the cost 3 times and were still not satisfied.

At least the first two staff members I had to deal with were polite. Then came the third one who was "the supervisor". She was rude and racist.

She said that her colleagues had misinformed me, there was nothing she could do about it, I should pay what she asked me to so I can have my dress back.

She pulled the dress away from where my colleague and I were and asked "go away, come back another time and speak to the manager," and "I am not interested in speaking with you." She walked away.

My colleague and I had waited over forty minutes for them to decide how much they would charge me. I was fed up, paid $55.20 cents to a man who had the look that he was forced to talk to us, and they sent us away with NO APOLOGIES for what she said was a mistake on the part of her staff.

Regal Drycleaners in Newmarket's motto is "Delivering our promise" If their promise is mistreating and degrading customers, then yes they do that very well.

Well I am sorry if I had earlier recommended Regal Drycleaners to anyone. My colleague and I were treated poorly there.

Just thought you all should know. Please do forward this to all your networks. Might pay to send this to Style and Metro magazines, and the radio station too.
