This is the real thing ... an old-fashioned PBX made from bits of telecomms junk.

Compared with this, compiling Asterisk on a Gumstix is a piece of cake!

Thanks for posting that link Rob.

It was really interesting to see how Mr. Wandel had built his own PBX.  It reminds me of my younger days playing with old telephones and running lines all around our property.  I used 2 wires of the boundary fence for one of the "lines" and took great pleasure in cranking the ringer handle on the old phones while somebody was touching the fence
