Old phone plan

OK, so this is the plan now.

I think it would be too difficult for me to try to get the existing transmitter/receiver electonics to work with an ATA. I have the working innards of a white Telecom push-button phone and will use that inside the box. I plan to use the mike and speaker of a modern headset and place them inside the old headset.

I will also need to work out how to link the hook switch on the old phone to the hook switch electronics on the new phone.

I will post some photos soon.

For dialling, I plan to bypass the need for a key pad by using a Nokia Internet Tablet to control the ATA via a web interface. This is where my Gumstix will fit into the project!

You can get the 1st generation of the Internet Tablet, the Nokia 770, at relatively low cost (USD 140) on eBay. There are some advantages to the ridiculously high Kiwi Dollar, at least!

Grrr ... I can't find a supplier that will shop a Nokia Internet Tablet to NZ.
