Well I may have got side tracked with the whole Linux migration thing, I have actually come a ways into focusing on doing some dev. Which was the intended goal.
Heavy Metal is born!
While not exactly rocket science, it is keeping me interested and I'm surprised at how fast I got a working Tetris clone up and almost complete. (approx 2 weeks)
Most developers would probably be rolling in the isles at how lame it all is, but for me to actually sit down and focus on ge (read the entire post)...

Distro Wars

Just about every Linux Zealot has his/her own opinion as to which distro is the "best" of the lot.
Having tried quite a few myself, I am still largely undecided as to which will best suite me.
Before I take that final step, I want to try and make an informed decision so that
I don't end up regretting my choice.
I loved both FreeBSD and Gentoo for their extreme learning curves.
Installing Gentoo from a Stage 1 Tarball onto an ancient machine with a crusty ol (read the entire post)...

I remember being excited installing Windows for the first time and finally ditching DOS.
I was excited because there were so many new complexities and things just waiting for me to discover.
I remember typing "cd \windows; dir *.exe", just so that I could find every thing that could be run and run it! I didn't care that I could break things and have to reinstall it all again. I wanted to be able to claim that I had mastered some new technology while others floundere (read the entire post)...
