ASUS teeny tiny $600 Laptops

http://eeepc.asus.com/ It's an ultra-portable laptop, with 7 inch screen, and a NZ$600 price tag. It comes with a linux operating system (their own window manager and lotsa kde apps). Jes Hall has the beginnings of a review on her blog. There's a bunch of hackers here @ my workplace attempting to put full blown debian on these gizmos. These gizmos are rather wonderful, especially the price tag. I'm interested to see the Vista version when it arrives -- what software will be bundled, will it fit in 4G, and will it be the same prices as linux. Whether you like linux or not, you gotta thank the movement for bringing down prices, and holding the other players to keep innovating. I hear leopard runs on eeePCs.

The only real downside is the poor screen resolution. It's a shame they didn't put something a little better on it!

I'm thinking if the cpu gets a bit bigger, then hello to my new media center client!!  And it's a great little size for going away.  I may even have to rethink the k-jam with one of these.
