are you an internet addict?

A story appeared on stuff.co.nz about internet addiction. It is curious the regard some folks have for internet, and in an attempt to illistrate this, I've taken the "test" portion of the article and replaced "online" and "internet " with "reading" and "book" to see how it sounds. SIGNS YOU'RE AN ADDICT - Do you think a lot about your book reading activities and anticipate the next time you get to read your book? - Have you tried unsuccessfully to control or stop reading a book? - Do you feel upset of moody when trying to control or stop your book reading? - Have you lied to family members about how long you spend reading books? - Do you often stay reading a book longer than you originally intended? - Do you use reading books as a way of escaping from problems? - Do you suffer sleep deprivation, time distortion and/or moderate physical complaints such as back strain, eye strain or carpal tunnel syndrome from reading books? (thanks to @bubbleup for the idea i shamelessly stole)

That /is/ stupid. - Do you think a lot about your bike riding activities and anticipate the next time you get to ride your bike? - Have you tried unsuccessfully to control or stop riding a bike? - Do you feel upset of moody when trying to control or stop your bike riding? - Have you lied to family members about how long you spend riding bikes? - Do you often stay riding a bike longer than you originally intended? - Do you use riding bikes as a way of escaping from problems? - Do you suffer sleep deprivation, time distortion and/or moderate physical complaints such as back strain, eye strain or carpal tunnel syndrome from riding bikes? I better stop riding bikes because I enjoy it too much.

Good one. Insert "guitar playing" or any other favourite activity. Though I suspect I DO spend way too much time online. OTOH, it's one of four of my main hobbies. It even has spin offs at work, which involves some computer usage. So, meh. ;)
