Confessions of a Mac virgin...

As a complete Mac newbie, I recently acquired a newly superseded Mac Mini running Tiger, with: 1.42GHZ CPU, 80GB HDD, 512MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi 802.11g, 32MB 3D Graphics, DVD-RW Burner.

My intention was to see if I liked Mac enough to then splash out on a fully Intel iMac later down the track, or give up and head back to PC+Windows.

After a few days using the Mac, I have decided to head back to Windows for my main machine in the Geek dungeon (garage), and put the Mac Mini inside as a web surfing and entertainment machine.

The jury is still out as to whether I buy a 20inch iMac or not, Mac is quite a learning curve.

I must say, that the Mac is barely audible, starts up in about 30 seconds from pressing the power button to having a usable desktop, and just seems to do what it does, very well.

I need more time to investigate before I decide which will be my main home, Mac, or Windows XP/Vista.

I still use Linux quite bit for certain tasks too, and maybe some new releases of a few distros will see desktop usability and friendliness increase.

Oh how muddy the OS waters are these days...

I am planning to go back to Mac when they will make Boot Camp so perfect that it will able to handle all the hw features of the Mac under Windows.

At the moment for example you cannot use the Mac's built in webcam under Windows.

When they're gonna fix it, I will be more then happy to use a 20" Mac with Boot Camp and Tger-Windows dual mode.
Why? Cause Mac's multimedia management (photos, music) are on a much higher level then Windows, but I need Windows too for gaming, office, etc.

I'm in the same boat, I just bought a mac mini cure duo 1.66 I think it's great (from what i've done over the last weeek, I may even take i back to the apple store and get and I-Mac or Macbook Pro. After using it I think I know I want to use mac os but I will use bootcamp and run XP... bad experiences with Vista so far! Make the move, at times I feel like I have no idea where to go to complete a task, but it's better than all the head aches of Windows

I'd consider a Mac Pro if... I could justify the cost. Can't at the moment though.
