Costs & Concepts Of Mobile Data In New Zealand

By tonyhughes Hughes, in , posted: 1-Nov-2006 20:27

UPDATE: Correct version now posted.

Heres a document I have written to try and answer the frequent basic questions I recieve with regards to mobile data (Telecom T3G / Vodafone 3G Broadband).

It is a basic introduction, and certainly not a comprehensive work covering every single aspect.

It is written in plain English, so hopefully even the most non-technical people can read it okay!

Download the PDF (150KB .pdf - right click and choose 'save-as') (Get this one if you are unsure)

Download the opendocument file (20KB .odt - right click and choose 'save-as')

Edits compared to old version - smaller font (far less pages!!), minor formatting changes, and small amounts of extra text, including a mention of Telstraclear Ltd.
(Thanks Kel!)

Due to a lack of time, the odt file does not have a table of contents, but it is 1/7th the size of the PDF!

Very cool document. Although I must point out to you that Vodafone's service also include 029 (TelstraClear), thought you might want to include that in your next revision. Reason so, is because essentially 029's support is provided by TelstraClear, even though it is operating using Vodafone's network. There are companies that use TelstraClear for their landline communication, which may also include cellular service too, and usually they will work in a package deal with their account managers.

I would be happy to include a credited revision, under the same creative commons licence term, just email me the text, and I am happy to format and include here.

Regarding the pricing info - the VF pricing is inc GST & TCNZ is ex GST, which should probably be noted (or adjusted).

go and check both sites, you are completely right, but the listed TCL price is lower, by the time you add gst, its all the same.

I would mention the upload speeds for voda in 3G (115k average) and HSDPA coverage (340k)
