[Update] Windows Live Hotmail 5GB is on its way...

, posted: 12-Sep-2007 11:20

Not long ago, Microsoft announced the expansion of their free and paid email storage size. Free Windows Live Hotmail accounts will get 5GB, which beats Google and Yahoo's offering. Well, just today, checking my WLHotmail accounts, I get a nice surprise... although I have no idea how long ago this had been but I'm pleased. However, two all of my other accounts still pending for have gotten the 5GB upgrade... [Update] Just one left @geekzonemail.com pending for the upgrade. All Windows Live Mail accounts I have are now 5GB! YAY!

YahooXtra has no limits :)

Umm but I don't use Xtra, and Yahoo!Xtra doesn't really count... it is an ISP email account, beside Yahoo has 2GB limit for Free account.

All Yahoo Mail is unlimited, see mail.yahoo.com

Mmm I stand corrected (thank you guys).

It's not the limit that counts it's whether or not your account gets deleted after some period of inactivity.

Very true Bung. I do actively use two of the 3 WLHotmail, with the 3rd (GeekzoneMail) just recently signed-up with. Perhaps Mauricio can clarify on this if GeekzoneMail account has not bee active for several months, will it be relinguished?

The Geekzonemail account follows the same rules as other Live Mail accounts and not using it for a few months may inactivate it.

You can access the account automatically through Outlook Conector (for Microsoft Outlook users) or Windows Live Mail Desktop (replacing Outlook Express or Windows Mail). You can access any Live Mail account through these software, making them pretty much permanent.
