NZHerald tech writer needs to get clued up!

, posted: 28-May-2008 12:00

I was just browsing NZ Herald website, and spotted this news article about Adobe releases Creative Suite betas and thought it is interesting for a read.

However I spotted this paragraph and had to think twice about what product the author was referring to: "The company, which began selling its CS3 group of design programs in the spring of 2007, has released beta versions of its Dreamworks website creation software, Fireworks graphics program and Soundbooth audio editing program on i (read the entire post)...

Spock.com

I heard about this yesterday and just today a colleague of mine was searching on it. So naturally, it got me curious, I went and did a search on my name. Bizarrely enough, I spotted my name, first on the list!

It seems like it is connected through the use of LinkedIn, Friendster, MySpace (and all those social-network websites) to farm its connection and search.

I decided to join up with it and link it to my LinkedIn.

I too have some invites to send out, so (read the entire post)...

1st March is the new New Year's Day

, posted: 1-Mar-2007 09:16

Happy New Year... (in the technology world!)

It seems like there are quite a few things made their changes just overnight and all happened on 1st of March 2007.

What have changed?
Sky reshuffled their channels into a more logical genre structure, and gives each genre a block of channels for future expansion. This also mean TelstraClear need to reflect the changes made by Sky as they supply the video feeds to TelstraClear's Saturn cable tv subscribers.Xtra finally (read the entire post)...

HTML tags illustrated

, posted: 26-Feb-2007 17:03

For some people, it is harder to learn HTML tags without any pictorial illustration. Now that learning step will be much easier for them, and definitely be more fun to learn too... You could start create a collection of HTML tags illustration for the new-born babies as their "My First HTML" learning book. :-D

So check out Haha.nu's "HTML tags illustrated". (read the entire post)...

There seems to be a surge of online tools and application to satisfy most of your productivity needs. I came across Gliffy.com a while ago, then over the weekend I found Picnik which is an online Flash-based photo editing tool.

Stuff's staff technical knowledge

, posted: 26-Feb-2007 15:21

I am not too sure whether I should congratulate Stuff's staff for their good effort of able to pronounce SQL as "sequal" or to criticise their limited technical knowledge of what is an SQL server... Have a look at the screen capture of Stuff's news on "Hit enter to move to NZ" (at the tenth paragraph)...

Update:
It is my understanding that, we get people pronouncing SQL as ess-cue-el, or "sequel" but in this particular case, it is referring to a particular produc (read the entire post)...

A colleague of mine had this posted in his forum and it makes a good laugh :-)

It is a "what-if" of the airline carriers are operating systems.

Worth the read and laugh :-) (read the entire post)...

Free online charting web application (Gliffy.com)

, posted: 18-Jan-2007 12:49

So we had this topic in the Geekzone forum [What's your LAN like?]. And a few of the members have really cool diagram (using Visio) and some even got nice icons/images, some are pretty basic. Regardless, everyone did a pretty good job to show how their LAN is set up/connect up.

As for mine, I don't have Visio installed and I don't want to go through the length of installing Visio just so I can show my network diagram... So off I went to search for free charting program.
