Posted on 4-Oct-2005 07:12 | Filed under: News

6th Sense Communications Inc. is introducing 6th Sense, a mobile personal networking service for users to find people in the local proximity that they might want to meet.

With 6th Sense, a user can create multiple electronic profiles, each comprising of personal or professional characteristics, which are then used to meet other users. When activated on a mobile phone, 6th Sense scans the local surroundings to find other users with similar profiles. Users are notified of potential matches, and can preview matched profiles on their mobile phone as a precursor to a face-to-face meeting.

The mobile application supports a variety of mobile phones and combines location awareness with easy selection of multiple personal profiles. User profiles are managed through the web, and the technology delivers profile matches based on multiple criteria.

"6th Sense enables your phone to find people around you that you want to meet," said Mike Li, co-founder and chief executive officer of 6th Sense Communications. "6th Sense transforms the ubiquitous mobile phone into the ultimate personal networking tool. With 6th Sense, we have made location awareness transparent to the user. All the heavy lifting is performed by our server, leaving the 6th Sense mobile application to provide notification of results and the easy switching between multiple user profiles based upon the social or professional environment the user is in."

Accounts are free and within a single account users can create multiple profiles based on a variety of personal or professional interests. The 6th Sense mobile application is also a free download and available for phones running the Series 60 or Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphone platform.
