ShareIt FTP Server for Pocket PC
NSC introduced ShareIt FTP 1.6, a major release of its FTP server software. ShareIt FTP is a powerful and easy-to-use file sharing solution that enables home, academic, government, industrial and corporate users to organize, share and manage files on their handheld devices over the Internet. Fined-tuned for Microsoft Pocket PC devices, ShareIt FTP 1.6 includes new security features, an enhanced user interface and an innovative transfer technology that promises faster download times and smaller wireless bills.

"The latest version of ShareIt FTP addresses many of the security and bandwidth challenges found in wireless networks," said Jeff Preston, President and CEO of NSC. "ShareIt FTP delivers pioneering access control and compression features that tighten security and yield significant performance and cost savings for organizations paying for connection time or bandwidth usage."

ShareIt FTP is designed to provide a robust, interoperable and easy-to-use file sharing solution for handheld and embedded computers. The software runs in the background on the Pocket PC device and includes a comprehensive set of monitoring, firewall, recovery and security features. Common uses include website maintenance, transferring multimedia files and remote data management.

New features include:

  • Deflate transmission mode (MODE Z). Co-developed by NSC, this open standard FTP extension can increase network throughput and decrease transfer times by compressing file and system data using the same techniques found in ZIP utilities.
  • Access control support. This security feature lets administrators restrict access to their ShareIt FTP server by filtering TCP/IP addresses.
  • User interface enhancements. New icons and layout help users navigate and configure ShareIt FTP more efficiently.
  • Overall performance improvements.
