If you like to read news, and check Google News now and then, have a look at this Newsmap website. Itís very interesting. I came across it while looking at the referrers sending visitors to Geekzone.
According to the author "Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator. A treemap visualization algorithm helps display the enormous amount of information gathered by the aggregator. Treemaps are traditionally space-constrained visualizations of information. Newsmap's objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe... It's [sic] objective is to simply demonstrate visually the relationships between data and the unseen patterns in news media. It is not thought to display an unbiased view of the news, on the contrary it is thought to ironically accentuate the bias of it."
I found out today some companies do read blogs. And take them seriously. Iíve got a phone call from Woosh to check if my billing problems are now sorted out. I have commented about Woosh here on Geekzone before (check this article), and it was one of the wireless services I thought was worth having in New Zealand.
Today we started running our first advertising in another website. Iíve contacted the guys at PalmAddict and arranged to have a Geekzone banner pointing to our 15% discount code campaign in our Geekzone Software Store. It seems to be working ok, got a good number of visitors so far. If you have a website and have some impressions available, let me know your rates.
