Virgin Radio launches mobile radio application
Sydus and Virgin Radio have launched their radio player for mobile phones. The software is currently available for Symbian based smartphones only, both the UIQ and Series 60 series. The software is available as a free download (http://wap.virginradio.co.uk from your WAP enabled Symbian mobile) and service.

Virgin Radio is claiming it's the first 3G radio player, and I disagree. Look at Windows Media Player on Windows Mobile devices... I have been using a Harrier Pocket PC Phone Edition (3G CDMA EV-DO) and it comes with Windows Media Player. I also have Windows Media Player on my Motorola MPx220 (GPRS, pictured, read our review).

And the service is locked on stations on Virgin Radio network only, while the Windows Media Player Mobile plays any network that streams in that format - not only Virgin Radio.

Granted, the application runs on a multitude of Symbian mobile devices and can be freely downloaded - but it can't claim to be the first one - neither radio app nor 3G radio app.
