Let's say you have one of the many Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition devices running Windows Mobile 5.0. Let's also entertain the idea that you are a busy person and during meetings you often turn the volume down or completely turn it off.
How do you manage missed calls in this situation? Why not let your Pocket PC manage it for you?
Aali Alikoski, Microsoft Finland, wrote the SMS Notifier for Pocket PC as part of mobile software development seminar in Tampere University of Technology and made it available (source code and executable) for anyone to download, use or modify.
What's special about this software? SMS Notifier watches for missed incoming calls and depending on configuration settings it can send an SMS message to the caller, possibly containing also the end time of current appointment (configurable). Not only it does this very nice "Oh I am sorry I missed your call" task, but it will also add an item to your calendar containing the caller info - just in case you want to call back, etc.
Very interesting demo of a simple application with great functionality.
