A lot of people have been complaining about not being able to see the font on whatever screens regarding the new software, can I suggest that the reason my be not using correct cabling and not using the hd ticket, as I have both of these and have no issues with seeing the writing although grey on grey isn't the best idea, I don't find it hard to see at all. Sky have suggested adjusting the contrast. but so much the above as a combination.

 

 

The new interface uses a significantly thinner font and the text is dark grey on white grey. It is objectively less readable for me and my eyesight is decent and I have a big TV.

 

My in-laws with their smaller TV? They are going to LOATHE it.

 

Kind of a lose-lose - people want more info in the same amount of space without the text being smaller...

I haven't received the update yet.  Its a mysky+ box. Just wondering if it is because my box isn't connected to the telephone line or Lan???  I don't receive emails from sky anymore as i unsubscribed from their spam email.

 

Still not too sure if I want the upgrade!!!

 

 

 

 

LAN doesn't work on a non upgraded box, and the upgrade comes via Satellite so it doesn't matter if its not connected to a phone line either.

 

 

 

wont have a choice about the upgrade, may as well just force it to upgrade manually

 

 

 

 

Any reason why sky themselves haven't come out and said how to do it manually? am I missing something?

 

 

 

 

Well received a letter from Sky on Monday,  update happened on Weds.  Find the interface a bit sluggish, and changing channels is not as fast as it used to be. Resolution and readability of the OSD is good.

 

Have an issue with my harmony ultimate remote, having to press the buttons etc twice in order to do anything.  Normal Sky remote is OK.

Has anyone else had trouble with the skylink WiFi boxes? Can't get mine to connect. Tried to manually enter the details but I noticed it said dhcp status off and I couldn't chnage that. Not a 100% but I think I need that on. Can't think of any reason why it won't join my network.


Is it an older Thompson telecom router? (Boxy and white lights in the bottom right and a silver button in the middle front)
Those have been known not to assign up addresses to the skylinks


Is there a fix for this? I've got one of those routers and I've only ever been able to connect once.

Had an interesting problem with MySky over the weekend... I've got one of the black MySky HDI boxes with the new software on it, and had mentioned on GZ that an option I'd like on from the new software is the ability to "hide" channels that I never watch, so that I could scan up and down the channel list and only see what I'm interested in. Someone replied and said I could effectively do this using the "favourites" feature. So on Saturday I went to Settings > Favourites, selected the channels I want to see when scrolling, and pressed the green button to save my selections.

 

Yesterday, while watching the cricket (and getting bored as New Zealand weren't getting any wickets) I started scrolling using the up arrow button, so the cricket was still on screen but the information display at the bottom changed to show what was on other channels. After going through a couple of channels the information display stopped changing, no matter how many times I pressed up arrow. At first I thought the batteries in the remote might be dying, then perhaps the button had stopped working. Then I displayed the full channel guide and this was the first hint of what the actual problem was: there were two iterations of each "favourite" channel in the guide, e.g. ESPN 2 appeared twice, Sky Movies Premier appeared twice, etc. When I went back into Settings > Favourites there were whole pages of the same channels showing ticked as favourites. I didn't take a photo, but (in text form) it looked like this:

 

 

In some instances there seemed to be two or three screens/pages showing multiple iterations of just one channel. So what I think was happening was that I'd press the up arrow button and when I got to one of these "repeated" channels it kept displaying the next version, and the next, and the next, so it looked like it wasn't changing, but it was - it was just displaying the same information for each version of the channel. I then spent at least five minutes going through all the favourites screens to un-tick them to get things back to normal - apparently you can "reset" the favourites by pressing the red button but that wasn't working for me.

 

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

 

EDIT: Tried to display the image using a table with HTML, but it got stripped out... added image instead.

I'm watching a foxteliq unit at the moment and it still has the old interface. It's like visiting an old friend.




Life is too short to remove USB safely.
