Any one else notice this on sky sports and prime over the past couple of days? Any ideas why?

sky have all of the coverage to the winter olympics but they aren't till 2010, so I don't see why that logo is there..

But they are the next Olympics so why not get the advertising while you can. No point in paying a fortune for the broadcast rights and not crowing about it.  Haven't they got the rights to London 2012 as well?  If so the logo is going to be there so long it's going to leave an after-image Undecided.

Yes they also have the rights to London 2012.
The proposal (as per the Annual Report) is that Winter Olympics will be on Prime in HD for 12 hours per day and on four dedicated pay television channels with live and delayed coverage 24hr/day.
For the Summer Olympics in 2012 it is proposed that Primes coverage will increase to 22 hours per day in HD with Sky running 8-10 dedicated Olympic channels with live and delayed coverage of events.

Melbourne Commonwealth games were on both FTA and pay in Australia - and damned good coverage for the viewer.  If we get something like that then it will be great for viewers.

i don't mind them doing it, other than it's even more clutter on the screen.

Yes I noticed and wondered about the rings too.  I've also seen it on downloaded content from the US.

Anyone wager that we will see the 2012 Olympics on Prime HD via Freeview HD??

I certainly won't be holding my breath. It will be a letdown if we don't get to see it in HD on freeview, especially after how good the Beijing olympics looked.
