I have Sky satelite being fed in to a normal Decoder.  What I would like to do is split the signal and feed it to my PVR so I can view/record a different channel to that of the main decoder.
What I thought I could do was split the signal using a splitter after the decoder and feed this to a satelite TV Tuner.
Would this work?

A sky decoder can only decode a single channel at once. You can't watch one and record another.

The exception to this is the MySky which I can assume you don't have otherwise you wouldn't need an external device for recording.

You won't be able to feed the pvr with a decoded satellite signal, is this what you are asking? If you are after recording from 1,2,3,3+ 6,7 etc then you can install a pvr with a splitter.

I have mysky HDi and a digistar 811U, working fine, just make sure you get a splitter with power pass, like this one:

Let sky go through on the powered side and you shouldn't have any problems.

Are you saying I can Split the Input Signal (before it goes to the Sky Decoder) and send one line to the Decoder and the other to the PVR (TV Tuner)? and this would allow me to watch any channel through the Sky box whilst recording another channel on the PVR?

Yes, but your PVR will be limited to the Freeview channels only.

If you use PVR software such as GB-PVR or Media Portal you can actually record multiple channels on the PVR at once that are all on the same MUX, ie TV1,2,6,7,Sport or TV3,C4,3+1

Yup:

                                  splitter         Powered side

cable to dish                     |##|+ F______________________F MySkyHD Record and watch as normal

<__________________F +|##|

                                       |##| +F______________________F PVR Record and watch different channels

You just need to buy the splitter and two short F-Type connector cables. the splitter should be labeled with an "in" and two "outs" the sky box should be on the out connector that has a line on the label to the In or is labeled PWR

Cheers
