Hi All,

Has anyone had an issue where they receive an 'atmospheric conditions' message on certain channels only. Been happening a bit to me lately where I cannot receive sky sports, sky sports 2 and sky movies. When I signal test whilst these channels are selected I can have any one of the four tuners down: strength <41dBuV quality 0.0dB. The actual tuner that is down can be variable but there seems to be at least one down in this situation

However if i change channel to say sky sport 3 then do a signal test i then find that signal strength is high >80dBuV wi giid quakity >7.5dB perhaps I'm a little dense but I really can't understand why this happens.

I've checked LNB settings etc and they are all correct/set up fine. Only been happening recently. Other times the whole thing will correct itself. I've tried resetting the machine many times. The only thing that has seemed to help has been to unplug the machine and let it 'rest' for ten minutes. As an electrical engineer this type if approach frustrates the hell out of me. There must be a better fix.

Comms was never my best subject so I'm a little confused with the whole thing ;-)

Appreciate any Sky gurus help in advance.

Hi, 

1) what area are you in, has there been any bad weather latley?
2) was your dish set up using a signal strength meter or just pointed to the sky?
3) what else is in the way of the dish?  (perhaps trees in the line of sight)?
4) Weather in the 'line of sight' of the dish... any lightening storms near you latley?

Dont forget that the well advertised 'sun spots' are affecting all transmissions this month.

Hi,

I should have said the following:

1)  Christchurch, no bad weather at all, happens during a clear sunny day
2)  Dish was set up when we arrived at the house so cannot answer this
3)  No trees in the way at all
4)  Def no weather in the way.

wow, sun spots?  I didn't know about those, perhaps the answer as it has only been like this for the last few weeks, actually since the RWC started.  I thought it was a conspiracy theory from Sky!

Call sky and they will fix it. Wouldn't sun spots take out all the channels in the world? Yeah, keep paying for the rainfade channel!!! Don't accept the poor signal- call sky. Get a refund for every day it's down. They can afford it.

Turn off any wireless devices you have ie: phones, routers etc then check signal again

Agree...if problems persist, see yer doctor  i.e. call sky.  Many years ago, I logged issues with signal quality stats and  after a few weeks a contractor came around and replaced the dish,lnb and cable run....and all was fine!
