I wanted to have a play with tilt shift . Was checking out lenses on Amazon and they are all in the several hundreds.
anyone got a cheaper alternative?

I know it's not quite the same but there are the lensbaby options which can give some similar results to a dedicated tilt shift lens.

Tilt Shifts tend to be expensive as there is a lot of extra engineering and parts that go into them, along with needing a much larger image circle then a regular lens of that format, which means more glass, most of them for DSLR's are $2-4k. Renting could be an option, or you get get old bellows camera and have a play, some people have even managed to mount a digital camera onto the back of an old film bellow camera.
