Why did TM do away with the 2-minute autoextend? Surely it makes them and the seller more money.

For those budget trademe auctions that don't show the image. Grab the images in your searches..

Question, for items where I'm still deciding if I'm really interested in it or not, why can't I add it to my watchlist without putting a bid? I don't want to put a bid on it in cause I may forget about it and end up winning the auction.

It's an undocumented feature, but you actually can -- if you set the bid amount to 0, BidBud won't try to bid on the auction. Bids set to 0 are treated as "watch this auction" -- BidBud will monitor the closing price of the auction and let you know how much it went for when it's finished.

They haven't done away with it -- it still exists. The best time to bid on an auction is still just before it ends though, and using BidBud makes it very easy to do this (amongst its other features).

Its really annoying browsing tradme and not seeing images.

There's also an "add to watchlist" button now.

What about having your own auction site?

Then when searching it queries tradme/sella/ebay and your own all at the same time?

You can list your adds cheaper than trademe. Maybe even for free to start off with, and then as your user base grows, start charging for them, but undercutting trademe prices.

I'm keen to see some good competition for trademe. They supply a good service but its time they had some real competition.

Building the site is the first priority, monetising comes second. Trademe could do with some competition, that's for sure -- but sella has been around for ages and haven't made much headway. I'm not sure how I could do better!

I'm guessing Wheedle don't have an API and won't for a while, making this non-trivial.

Also it would need to be done as a seperate site I believe (unless you can get trademe to agree to it) The Trademe API ToS say:

You may not combine Trade Me content with content from other online marketplaces without our express permission.
