So I joined skinny broadband however my sync speeds seems to have been dropping over the past two weeks. When the connection went live on the 7th od December I was getting the speeds below:

Now I am getting this to the same servers.

Sync from the modem

Everything is buffering, does anyone have any suggestions?

naked or clothed? was a splitter/filter installed? does the house have an alarm?

start a ping test to any website and pick up the phone, does the ping change?

Check the VDSL cable isnt running near a power cable as that can cause slow downs, if you can move it away see what happens.

try restarting your modem and see what happens, but i suspect you have lots of errors on the line.

- Naked connection
- The connection goes to a panel in the garage where all the patching is done (no changes made here since the connection)
- No phone
- So the VDSL cable is coming from outside the house is terminated into my comms panel and then I use a RJ45 to RJ11 to connect to the DSL port on the modem
- I have restarted the modem a few times and getting the same results on the sync page. The internet is slow to load pages and some it just doesn't and times out

Restart 1

Restart 2

Restart 3

I also checked for errors on the line which you mentioned but nothing is showing on the modem side. I think maybe Skinny support can see more information on there side.

I tried to get to Trademe and and both the pages time out. I can however ping and traceroute to it.

dont keep restarting it, thats not great for it at all.

i suspect your modem doesnt report errors very well

and just because nothing has changed in the comms panel doesnt mean there isnt a poor connection in there, if you feel comfortable you could try re-terminating it.

it could be a fault on the street side but its best to try and eliminate your side of things first.

Stop restarting the modem! DLM will think it's a poor line and drop the Sync rate

I reterminated the cables nothing changed.

Didn't know about the DLM just read up on what it is and how it works. I'm sure there is a way to reset that setting or after x amount days with stable line it should go back to normal speeds I assume.

Looks like like the bad weather might have caused some issues. Will log a support call tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

You have a physical line issue - that's pretty clear. If you've checked your internal wiring, all you can do is contact your ISP for resolution.

Lost a leg is my guess, you will need chorus to check there side but check all you can including all idc joints in your panel.
