New firmware is not always what you want... The question is, what is the issue and is there a firmware with the fix ;)

Bigpipe firmware?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.
Rural Broadband RBI installer for Ultimate Broadband and Full Flavour

Yes all firmwares should work, just some will be more plug n play than others

coffeebaron: Bigpipe firmware?

For what is worth, I have a bigpipe hg659 that they sent me middle to late last year - Has B011 firmware installed.
I assume that's quite old - but appears to be the latest.

There doesn't seem to be a 'factory' download page for Huawei routers anywhere.
At least tp-link have readily available firmware update pages.

I have HG659 H/W ver B.

Currently using Big Pipe F/W V100R001C297B011 dated 30 Mar 2018.

This was the same firmware in a Skinny HG659 H/W ver B which I was supplied on 27 Jan 2017.

Bought a spare HG659 (x Vodafone with Huawei logo) from Trademe in June 2018 and loaded BP firmware so that both HG659 were the same.

No problems using the B011 firmware on Voyager.

The current firmware version for the Skinny HG659B is V100R001C227B027

If you need to update you can go through the standard firmware update process in the modem GUI.

If that doesn't work, reach out to the Skinny Support team, they'll be able to help.

I work for Skinny, but I don't post in my capacity as a Skinny representative. I check the forum in my spare time, and try to help when I can. To get help from the Skinny team head to https://support.skinny.co.nz/contact.php

Thanks for the answer, but where do I actually get this firmware from? Or is it only available from the support team?

From @ashtonaut: I have both a 659 and a 659b. The exterior case is different and there may be minor internal hardware differences but they are pretty much the same thing. Firmware is not cross compatible but I haven't noticed any difference in the web interface between the two.
