The BFG (Mauricio) got a few last year, I got one from him, which I haven't used yet as I want it for my winter heater. So yes they are available.

They're great.  We use one to make sure the baby's room doesn't get too cold.

Thanks, had been keeping an eye out for something similar.

Does it have a timer? Think it would be good to be able to set it to only activate during certain times (i.e. turn on heater at night when temp is below target).

oops, just RTFM from bottom of http://www.heatermate.com.au/

"Heatermate with timer function: If you need to add the timer function to Heatermate, you can simply plug Heatermate into any timer of your choice."

Not an ideal solution, but I take it from the above that the Heatermate doesn't have a timer.

I don't think it has that obvious and useful feature. You can always plug it into a separate timer.

Problem with it could be that heat rises, and plugs are near the floor.

It's an "obvious" feature but it would complicate the user interface quite a bit. Either it'd require many more buttons and a larger screen -- or you'd need to read the manual each time you wanted to use it.

It's a shame that the cheap thermostats that are built into some heaters work so poorly. It is such an obviously useful device for an electric heater to have.
Reminds me of the days when internet browsers required a third-party addon to support resuming broken downloads.

It is great. We have used it last year and again in Bella's room, which we try to keep at around 18-19c and it works as advertised - we have a thermometer in one corner and the heater in another, plugged into this device and it does keep the room tempreature as required.

Considering getting a couple more for the office and our bedroom.

Used heaters in kids' bedrooms for the first time this winter, and decided I defintely need better temperature control.
goodsteps.co.nz seems to be down. Anyone aware if he has ceased trading? Company is still registered.
Has Elto or any 'hardware store brand' started making one?

They can be ordered direct from Aus for less than goodsteps was asking anyways.

If anyones interested in a bulk buy again I'd definitely be keen.

True! AU$30 each, I'm keen for one (or two if we need be).
