I think most heat pump remote controls are actually two way. This allows the lcd display of the remote to show the status of the heat pump rather than just say what state it (the remote) thinks it should be.
I don't think so. The Daikon wifi controller app will show me settings made with the remote, but not the reverse.
If the temp is set at 20, and I hit the temp up button on the remote to take it to 23 but block the IR signal, the LCD shows 23, but the unit is still set on 20. If I unblock it and again press the temp up button, then it sets to 24 - so the remote system is smart enough to send a temperature setting rather than just up/down signal, but it's not two-way.
