The internet seems to say it's fine but I'll check here if I may.

I have an AP wifi thingy but the provided power cable is too short. The original power supply is 12V 1.5A (1500mA)

I have another DC power cable from another router - same voltage (12V), one is rated 1A one is rated 2A

I presume it's safe to use the 2A one?

Thanks

yes

thats the maximum the power supply can supply, the device will only draw up to its maximum, as the PS is greater than the device there should be no issues.

Yes, provided the polarity is correct. Usually these will be centre positive.

The quality of the adaptor can also be a factor, though not in the example you give. I tried replacing one on a wireless phone. Not only did I have to change the polarity, but the adaptor induced a terrible hum. It wasn't properly regulated for the device.
