With a full basket like that you just need to shake them around a couple of times if you want them all crispy.
Don’t fill it as much as that or your food will be burned by the top element. No, doesn’t need to be single layer

I succumbed to the 'craze' last year - and haven't used the oven since.
Picked up a Sunbeam AFP6000BK on one of the many Big Box specials (it periodically drops to around $200) - it has 2 compartments that can be used simultaneously but independent of each other (eg: veges in one at, say 170 degrees C, and protein in the other at 200 degrees C).
Can also set each compartment up to cook independently at different temps & different cooking times so that it will finish both at the same time.
In addition, the divider that separates the 2 compartments can be removed, converting it into a large one compartment cooker (though I have never had the need to do this).
Comes with a useful selection of baskets, trays, and containers.

We bought the same to replace an older airfryer that was having intermittent issues. Having the option to change the configuration depending on what you want to cook is excellent. Very rarely use the main oven now.
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

That looks fantastic for $200 if you can get it at that, especially given you can remove the divider and you get the variety of trays etc.
I am really enjoying this topic, good work.

The only grizzle I have is that the touch sensitive button driven user interface is very non intuitive. They need to get better designers for that.
Sounds like the Russell Hobbs air fryer I used to have, you'd touch the button once and it'd record 2-4 presses depending on how it felt on the day.

Mmm, crispy air-fried bacon ..
You may not revert to pan frying bacon ever again .
I was sceptical at first, but now a convert.
Wife purchased the as-seen-on-tv PowerXL air fryer.
3 mesh trays, drip tray, rotisserie , etc.
It's our go to oven, except when doing the big family cook, that's when the standard oven comes into play.
Or the BBQ.
How do the different models compare for cleaning? I like the idea of taking out all the business parts and throwing them all in the dishwasher.
The combination mini-oven types look like they will get the traditional oven splatter problem.
Do all the removable draw types have an advantage there?

As someone that uses an oven, I'm still perplexed why people would want an air fryer.
I would say in defense of that, my oven is relatively modern. I have been toying with the idea of getting a sous vide combi oven (I notice they all seem to have an air fry function).

Like anything with non stick coating, dishwasher will kill it. Never seen a glass one before, from a cleaning perspective it would make life easier i suspect and no coating to come off over time.
IME the screws and stuff in the handles etc are not stainless and will rust no matter if you hand wash or use the dishwasher, so I just put the bits that the food contacts into the dishwasher.
I do wish that second sets of the drawer etc was available so that I dont have to wait till the dishwasher is run before I can heat food again, but it seems that they dont want to sell spares for these things. That is partly why I ended up getting the second one from kmart.
Aint got no time to be handwashing things and if it takes some time off the life of it, I don't care as the cost vs usefulness of the appliance is exceeded before they get so bad.
The air fryer basket is easy to clean - just wash in the sink with hot soapy water. We usually use a paper or silicon latex basket to save even doing that. The paper gets binned and the basket goes in the dishwasher.
