SparkyP:

It looks like the cheapest Apple TV4 I can get is JB Hifi at $268 which is a little pricey so I am wondering whether it can be purchased overseas for cheaper?  Or will they not work here if not purchased in NZ?  Or does anyone know of anywhere I might be able to get a better deal?

In the US the 32GB is the equivalent of $212 at an exchange rate of .70 to the dollar. Add on shipping and you're not really much better off. Plus, if you buy in NZ you get the correct adapter and you're also covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act. $268 is a good price and it's worth the money.

Whether the TV is smart or not has nothing to do with whether a TV box will work with it - as long as you have a free HDMI port, all you need to do is change the TV input you're viewing to that HDMI port and you'll be watching the TV box.

Chromecast works well on light box - my chief complaint is the inability to use my harmony remote control with it.

[edit: to manage integration of various devices within my harmony remote, I have CEC switched off on the TV].

I can't << or >> accurately from the phone app.  It's a small, very sensitive slider and I have fat fingers. So I have to sit through recaps and opening credits on programmes I watch.

Easier from a tablet I imagine.

I also use Chromecast for goggle movies and (soon) for media streaming.
