Been watching the weightlifting on Seven via the web and its great, HD and commentary is good. No Aussies competing possibly helps. They have the schedule mapped out by sport and it's all on-demand.

Is it ad-free?  Or are there ad's inserted or bannered?  Previous rights holders in Australia have used the coverage to promote their products (upcoming shows etc) and their sponsors but usually result in writedowns after the event.  So interested to understand how Seven are monetising the coverage to minimise their losses.

I think between events there's pretty extensive advertising. I remember the other night while watching the rowing I wondered how long the ad break had been going because it seemed exceptionally long. Seven is also selling additional coverage via their mobile app, which gives wall-to-wall live streaming of just about every event, from what I can tell by their advertising. It's available via in-app purchase for $20AUD, so they'd be recouping some of their cost that way.

Might have ads on the live stream but I haven't seen any on the on-demand content. I paid the $20 as that is what provides access to all events on-demand.

Oh, nice! I couldn't get the app to work so I didn't shell out. I've just changed DNS providers though, so I might give it another bash.

BBC Iplayer with Getflix has been awesome. Currently out of town for some family stuff so am away from MySky at home for a few days. Been able to see anything I've wanted to see either live in the morning or on demand in the evening.

Discovered to my delight that the BBC Sport app airplays to my AppleTV, even though there's no airplay icon in the video player window. I activated it from the pull-up menu at the bottom of my iPad, but didn't turn mirroring on, and it just started working. Never knew you could do that. Watched most of the rowing that way last night, until the quality suddenly died, and then I switched to Aussie channel 7 for the Bond/Murray race. It was well worth staying up for.

I don't watch the Olympics, or have a real interest in them. That being said, I'll find "alternate" means of streaming any sporting event, just to fly the bird at Sky TV.

Yup, that's how we're watching too. AirPlay without mirroring automatically hands the video/audio off to the ATV and lets you continue using your device for other things 👍

Maybe they meant live medal ceremony? Seriously with so many million events I'd look at the official channels for exact times.
