We've made the move away from Spotify. It's something we've discussed a few times but I've never got my act together to do anything about it. Tidal works just fine with Android Audio, and everyone in the household is happy with the available music (almost no different to spotify, so far), features, and quality.

Cancelling the premium family account with Spotify could have been easier, they really try to talk you out of it. And I can't find any way to remove the payment method!

It now appears the deal with Rogan was $200 million over three years.

That's where the money goes - not to artists but pandering for misinformation and lies.

Wow. Even happier to take my money elsewhere, then. It isn't the reason we moved to Tidal. I seriously disliked the podcast integration in the app. Or was it music features integrated into a podcast app?

I wonder if there was a meeting where they had to choose between higher quality audio or buying Rogan instead lol.

I was originally an Rdio user and only moved to Spotify when Rdio disappeared. I never liked the Spotify interface but getting it added to our mobile plan just made it a no brainer.

We've got the email saying that it won't be part of the package going forward so it's actually a good time to look at these options again.

I've signed up for a Tidal trial and so far agree about the sound quality being better. So much so that I'm now looking at my PC speakers and thinking about replacing them. I use PocketCast for podcasts so podcasts can keep out of my music streaming.

I was also surprised to see music videos as part of Tidal. I don't know how much I'll use it but did chuck it on the other day while working. I also really like the feed, which has already shown me new releases I had no idea about, and yes I do have new release announcements in Spotify enabled. I just rarely see much other than what look like ads.

So far my only negative is not having Echo integration. I would have until recently as I had a US Amazon account but decided to move everything to AU at the end of last year.

I used TuneMyMusic to transfer all my music and playlists over which meant that I got all the mixes showing up immediately. It did require a payment but hey I only need an initial sync and then can cancel it.

I forgot how much I dislike Apple Music's interface... I think this is more just that I'm so used to Spotify and how it does things that it just feels unfamiliar (I don't think the Spotify interface is super amazing or anything).

I'm currently two thirds of the way through a three-month Tidal trial and I'm fairly confident I'll cancel my Spotify family account at the end of it. Tidal works fine; maybe not so good on the auto-generated playlists as Spotify, but it does what I need to do and it runs on all the platforms I need it to.

Has anyone tried the Plex integration for Tidal? It appears that I can get some benefits by paying for Tidal via Plex, although it's not all that clear.

Just got a notification from Deezer that it will no longer be offered for free in New Zealand. :(

I've discontinued Deezer anyway, but it's still a shame.

I am not listening to anywhere near as much since getting rid of spotify. Amazon prime music in the car is a joke really, cant ask for anything on the echo auto really, it keeps trying to upsell me to unlimited which I cant buy because I have a US prime account and no US payment method.

Youtube music will not work with alexa, and the phone app is horrible to navigate with small non responsive touch areas and tiny text.

I might give tidal another shot since people say its mixes have improved but I still remember it as just being a cesspool of promoted crap music that was paid to be placed on the homepage of it and related playlists.

The Daily Mixes on Tidal are pretty decent. It has taken a while for it to get to know me, but I'm seeing less of the promoted hip-hop on the homepage. I still think I'll miss the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists from Spotify, but in general I'm comfortable with Tidal.

I still need to figure out if/how I can get Alexa on my Sonos to play music from Tidal, but to be honest it's not a big deal.
